Games as Therapy
Re: Games as Therapy
ANY version of Street Fighter that is decent. I had a pretty terrible day about a week ago, so I got home after a 12 hour day and put in SFA2. I went to town on that shit. Arcade mode defeated with no continues on the hardest difficulty, which I am very rarely able to do. I felt much better after that.
Re: Games as Therapy
How about therapy from a frustrating game, come on raise those hands.
Back on Topic, REZ is always relaxing for me though.

REZ is always a mood booster for me too, it's just so fun and trippy.

Re: Games as Therapy
Kirby games tend to do it for me. Easy gameplay means there's little chance of me getting frustrated, and cheery, upbeat music and visuals make it pretty hard to stay unhappy while playing.
On a somewhat related note, a few days ago I was having a really shitty day at work and feeling incredibly down. Then I started thinking about Mega Man X, and started humming the opening stage music to myself and I couldn't help but let out a big smile. So even when I'm not playing them, video games work as therapy for me.

I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.

I'd love to say Space Channel 5, but apparently I suck at it..

My job can be really stressful, so pretty much every game I've played this year had the purpose of helping me relax. Even Ninja Gaiden can provide some soothing comfort for me.

Actually, it was a seriously lame heartbreak that got me back into playing old games so much. Best therapy there is for me! Old-school games always cheer me up. I usually go for something Pokemon-related on the N64, some random old-school puzzle game, or Mario Kart 64. Ahh good medicine...RAWR!Flake wrote:So yeah, well all play games to kill time or boredom.
But what do you play when you're in a bad mood or bummed out? What game(s) can you count on to bring you out of a funk?
For me, it's anything 8-bit Megaman or (more recently) Warioland.

Also, play Dark Side of the Moon while having friends over for MK 64 Battle Mode and it makes for some oddly magical stuff.

8-Bit Mega Man would honestly put me in a worse mood.Flake wrote:So yeah, well all play games to kill time or boredom.

I like playing fighters all the time, but especially when I'm in a bad mood.
Except for Online MVC2. Again, that'll just put me in a REALLY bad mood.
