Dreamcast burning question (yes I've read the guide)

Post by wampa »

Hello all, I use discjuggler to burn Dreamcast games. I bought a new dreamcast for like 100 dollars.

I followed http://www.racketboy.com/guides/burn-dr ... images.htm this guide for burning DC cdi files by discjuggler, and it worked great for games like ikaruga, under defeat, and zero gunner 2. The burned cds play fine on the dreamcast.

However, when I try to burn images of Jet Grind Radio and Blue Stinger, disc juggler gives me this message" the structure of the disc you are burning appears to be invalid and could generate errors. Would you like discjuggler to try to fix this?". I clicked "yes" to fix and then the burned cds don't play. The logo shows up and then returns to the main dreamcast screen. I notice that the successfully burned cds are under 700MB I think and the two failed ones are above 700MB. Is there any precaution I should take to burn these cds? Thank you.

Ensure that your burner supports overburning, im not exactly sure what overburning is but I believe that is when you but data on the sectors that are left at the end of a disc that are used for error correction. Always using over-burn has its risks and due to this fact burn your discs nice and slowly. This way you also minimise errors that can happen in the 1st place, and if you can only select a few speeds buy some decent media. On Varbatims I get 2x 4x 8x 16x 24x 32x 48x I generally go for 4x to 8x depending on how important I think the disc is.

DJ always gives me that error, and you do NOT click yes. Click no. Do you believe the images are seriously bad? Chances are, they are not. Just click no, so DJ won't fuck with your games. Keep in mind that what you are burning are games that use a clever little self-boot trick which most burning applications are oblivious to, or they assume it's a flaw.
