Nothing right now, although I loved PlayStation Mag, is it still around? If so my store's in the area don't carry it.
Edit: Yup, quick goolge search shows they are around, I wish I could find it in a store near me

I really liked Nintendo Power back in the S/NES days.
Retro Gamer is good but I sold off my back issues and stopped buying it.
I also like Video Game Collector but I think they only ever put out like 10 issues.

Re: Game magazines, what is your favorite?
I first got the 4 Nintendo Fun Club leaflets (I think that was the name, one of them had Final Fantasy on the cover) back when they first came out. That ended up becoming a Nintendo Power subscription, of which I think I kept getting them from issue 1 until issue 54 (I think... 5 years worth). I bought quite a few Gamepro magazines in there and liked that because it gave me information about the Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Game Gear, Turbografx-16 and Neo Geo (3DO, Jaguar, Saturn and Playstation later on). It also showed me some imports like the Core Grafx, Supergrafx, PC-FX, Playdia, Amiga CD-32, etc. that I never really saw in Canada. A lot of my friends liked EGM, but I never really got into that magazine, even though I bought a few copies and read them from 1989 and probably read every single issue from about 1992-1998 cover to cover. Sometime in late 1993 or 1994 I discovered Die Hard Gamefan, and decided it was the best gaming rag out there. It was the only thing to actually focus on stuff I really wanted, like Phantasy Star IV, Shining Force II, Lunar2 and the freakin' Sega Saturn (Gamepro really focused on the PS1 once new years 1996 hit). Gamefan it is!

Re: Game magazines, what is your favorite?
Last magazine I really read was Hardcore Gamer, which was helmed by a lot of the same folks who used to run Gamefan. Unfortunately, haven't seen a Hardcore Gamer in a long while at my bookstore.
The magazines I used to read a lot of were:
Nintendo Power
EGM
GameFan
Gamer's Republic
Play
Hardcore Gamer
That's about it.

SegaDreamscape wrote:Sega Saturn Magazine (uk) was the first magazine I was a fan of. I read a few others but this was the one I kept going back to. The reviews were allways spot on and near the end of its (too short) lifespan due to the decline of the system they began to focus more on the arcade side of Sega and Japanese imports.
Highly recommended & well worth a read if you ask me.
I really liked that magazine as well, they really tried their hardest to sell the strengths of the saturn and well worth reading even today.
Lately I dont really read any printed magazines, although I do occasionally buy GamesTM. I like the more mature angle they have and the articles focusing on the cultraul impact games have and things like that.

when did nintendo stop managing it and why?
Also from English magazines my favorite, and only one I consider to be relevant (ironically) in the age of the internet is retro gamer. The writers give a personal flavor to the articles, and since they are reviewing very old games, I can take their opinions to the bank, as opposed to modern game reviews where reviewers get payed off or fall victims to the hype train.
also even magazines like EDGE (best modern gaming magazine) are irrelevant by the time they reach my hands so I don't see the point in paying for them anymore. Books are cheaper and last longer if I need a companion on the toilet.

Nintendo Power all the way, man. Not only informative, but pretty hilarious on many occasions (specifically their sarcastic and witty responses to fan mail).
Play was the only other one I subscribed to, but they stopped, as someone in this thread already mentioned. I'm not really sure why I liked them, only that I did.
