Bayonetta

I was ready to give up about a 3rd into the game, but I kept trying and I'm proud that I beat it on normal.

Probably because weve never played each other.

Maybe. So I'll put it this way: I've beaten Jonesy in Virtua Fighter.

I had a tough time with Bayonetta's later stages, until I discovered some of the game's exploits and glitches. Having made use of them, I probably wouldn't say I'm PROUD to have beaten the game, but I am HAPPY I did. It's fun seeing what littles surprises the game throws at you as you get closer and closer to the end.

But man that missile glitch and the other glitch that lets you re-use the item that damages all onscreen enemies really kick the game's difficulty down a bit. It's odd that Ninja Gaiden 2 was full of exploits and glitches too. Are designers getting sloppier these days or are gamers just getting way too good at finding these things?

Gamerforlife, I think with the advent of the Internet, one person finding something quickly turns into hundreds of people knowing about something in a game. As great a tool as the internet can be, it makes secrets or glitches in games, not so secret for very long anymore. There is a part of me that hates, and at the same time, misses, the old days of word of mouth for game secrets and tricks.

I remember when I first got my Genesis, and remembered that there was a stage select code for Sonic 2, but couldn't find it in any of my gaming magazines. So you'd go through your buddy's "stacks" of magazines and see if you could find the info there, or heck I remember going through the game tips and trick books at the library finding stuff for older games for NES way back when. Coming across something you didn't know was a big deal. Nowadays, you find anything at GameFAQs in a matter of minutes.

Anyway, to get back on topic, the one game I'm proud to have actually beaten, and frustrated that I HAVE beaten it once is The Legend of Zelda II: Adventures of Link. I guess I just had more patience as a kid, because I attempted it again once in college, and once a few years ago, and both attempts were met with failure around the next to last, and last dungeons both tries.

That game is just balls to wall insane later on, and It frustrates me that I did actually beat it once, and haven't been able to since. The other game that I haven't beaten, but came close to was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES. I worked on that game for a week straight once as a kid. Seeing as how there was no password/save feature, I just left the NES on for the whole week, turning off the TV, and coming back to the game each day after school. I got all the way to the tunnel leading up to the Technodrome, and the NES froze on me.

That was the only time I ever had my NES freeze on me that I can recall, and I was so ticked off that I shut the power switch off and never touched the game again. I would never do anything so silly now, but that was my only option as a kid to try and get all the way through that game.

Because my reflexes are poor and I suck at any games that require any amount of hand-eye coordination, I'm going to say beating Actraiser felt like a real accomplishment. It wouldn't if it weren't for having to face all the bosses over again back to back at the end. While some of the sections in the game were tough, that part just felt insane to me.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

Gears of War 1 & 2 on Insane difficulty.

As for older games I'm not really sure I have completed many hard games. I was very proud to beat Goldeneye when I was younger as was stuck on that Control level for months! Damn you Natalya.

Donkey Kong on Gameboy though, that was pretty tough I recall. Well I was about 8 lol.

Condemned 1 & 2 am pretty proud I completed as I have never really stuck with a "scary" kinda game for long. I normally turn it off and then don't fancy putting the disc in again lol. Stuck with Fatal Frame 2 for a few hours but yeah, Condemned is more actiony but still shakes you up in the dark at 2am. Great games though!

I need to play tougher games, currently playing Jet Force Gemini which is tricky.
Currently playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist
