Same here -- I was about 11 when it hit the arcades and 12-13 when it hit the consoles (depending on what version you are refering to)neohx_7 wrote:jemsic was probably barely born in the 80s because that game came out in 93 according to gamefaqs. I'm starting to feel really old too... I've been playing Street Fighter II since turbo came out on SNES when I was 11...racketboy wrote:You just made me feel old...jemsic wrote:I remember playing it at my cousin's house when I was only 4 or 5.

For me, the SNES vs Genesis years was the third and fourth grade. I remember some kids having street fighter, but most of us loved mortal kombat more (like me). Things changed alot and now I can't stand mortal kombat. But those years were so much fun. I had an SNES, and when donkey kong came out - OMG. lol
I don't know how I got the money, but I remember spending $75 for super mario rpg at target. That's alot for a 4th grader.
Those were my good old days... nerf guns and super soakers. Good times!

Whether or not my friends have played a classic Genesis game before is really hit-or-miss. My friends never played some of the great launch classics because of their age -- they weren't hardcore Genesis fans at launch, which is really a shame.
I don't really know of many unknown/obscure/underground Genesis games, but I do enjoy these classics a lot..to my suprise, a lot of people haven't played some of them ;
Mystic Defender
E-Swat
Fantasia
Mickey Mouse - Castle of Illusion
Ghostbusters
Final Zone
Shadow Dancer
Phantasy Star II
James Pond <-- ported to other consoles
Aero The Acrobat <-- ported to other consoles

oh i had forgotten all about that game..repetive even for a beat em up but being able to rip the arms of enemy cyborgs and using it as your own was a intresting feature..not to mention you could also tear of the torso of enemy cyborgs pretty cool i´d say and very handy since in the later levels they take forever to go down.whupthewickedwurm wrote:...oh yeah, underplayed games...

It's actually a lot of fun once you get the controls down.

I'm not sure if the copter game you might be looking for is Thunder Blade?grittykitty wrote:i'm wondering if there's any underplayed genesis games that anyone finds really great. i'm talking about games we don't see popping up on retro game site lists![]()
crap i lost my train of though... i had a couple in mind but forgot them. help me remember! one game i really liked was a helicopter game flying through the city... similar to f-1 race (the old school one, ported to nes) and afterburner. this was a game i got with my genesis for xmas back in 91 but i can't remember the game...
It was an Arcade game by Sega (one of the earliest I remember playing, with my dad as I was too young to do it alone actually) and I bet they ported it to some of their consoles.
Ivo.

Shit, I said "Soldier Blade" when I meant to say "Thunder Blade!"grittykitty wrote:yeah, that helicopter game i mentioned is called thunder blade... i just forgot to mention it when i found out the actual name (as opposed to soldier blade)
I gotta go commit seppuku now.
Yeah, Cyborg Justice man! Sure it was repetitive but the fact that theres so many ways to annihilate the other cyborgs, somewhat makes up for it.
