As I said in the Onimusha thread I've been looking into Resident Evil 1.5 the version of RE2 that got canned. I'll hopefully be collecting all of the games information up in one spot on my blog but until then you can read about it here and here.

Is it true that some members were not happy that it was scrapped and had to start again (which became Resi Evil 2)? And that they also left to join Square, where they made Parasite Eve?

I stumbled upon this video from Joystiq I think, I'd seen other videos but this ones a bit more lengthier and comprehensive.
Yeah, the game was 80% of the way thru, in fact quite a few people who've played this think its better than RE2. So I bet that plenty of staffers were a little frustrated.
I have no idea about people moving to Square though.
