I like it myself, and I don't think those biker helmets really warranted that much panning I think the reason The Spirit didn't do well critically is because after Sin City and 300, they were just sick of the whole make a movie look like a comic book thing. You all have mentioned some movies I have loved that got less than positive reviews. It seems a lot of action movies do not do too well with critics.
I was checking a lot of the movies I own with Metacritic, most of them were rated pretty good.
2 that were rated poorly, one I'm surprised at and one I'm not at all!

I thought this was a solid movie! Christian Bale rocks. Man crush on this dude.
I think I even read at one point that this movie had like the 3rd highest body count by a single person in a movie.

Metacritic: 30
It was ridiculous, fun, funny, and had 3 sexy ladies in it. Not to mention it looked cool.

When the first Weekend at Bernie's came out, I really enjoyed it. I can remember laughing at it hysterically. I recently watched it again after 20+ years and I didn't find the movie funny at all.
