FIFA keeps tabs on international soccer, but who keeps tabs on FIFA?

I'm really disappointed with FIFA and football in general. This cup is horrible.

Instead of finding ways to decrease cheating (and diving) they make 3 of the biggest ref mistakes of all time in a single week.

I'm actually thinking of boycotting the world cup from this point on. It was just horrible and unfair.

When rumors spread that FIFA has given instructions to refs to protect the star players, you just know this game is fucked. More strict foul rules? Sure count me in.

More strict foul rules only in favor of superstars? FUCK you FIFA.

I'm sorry but to me the greatest thing about sports is that the underdog can win. That's why I always support the weaker team. That's why I don't mind who wins this cup as long as it's not Argentina/Brazil/Spain/Italy.

Heck I supported the US more than Greece because I loved it's ballsy way of always playing offense, never giving up, and most of all it's sportmanship, since it's the only team who's players didn't dive at the first hint of being touched, and also did not kick the ball away when the other team got a foul kick or something similar.

But this cup is a joke. The refs are a joke. I feel bad for US England and Mexico since if they hadn't been deprived of their 2 goals (and 1 great defense play by pulling up) things might have been different.

Sorry for the rant but this disappointment has got to get out of me.

Well at least we have the Basketball World Cup in Turkey in a few months.

I mean, what fucking technology are we talking about, a fucking VCR? You don't need fucking Hawk-Eye to freeze frame the precise moment an infraction occurred. It's fucking retarded. Soccer/football must be the only sport where this sort of review system isn't used at all.
FIFA said that it's part of the "emotion" of the game. So, football must be the only sport in which they do not actually want to have the rules respected, but only have them so people can talk about whether or not they were respected.

if they want to add emotion to the game then let the players attack the ref every time he pulls a stupid stunt like the Argentina Mexico game where they saw their mistake and still decided to carry on and count the goal.

Heck if they allowed that it would be much closer to the football people play in the streets

If they think having a review system of referee calls will take away emotion they've never experienced American Football. You're watching, and you see him get to the endzone, but in a really sketchy way. Was his foot down? Did he have control of the ball? The coach throws out the challenge flag. They start showing replays. The people at home are debating. The ref comes back and rules after having seen the footage. Half the crowd goes wild. And the rules are set up so you can't just challenge any call you want. You get two per game, and if you're wrong you lose a timeout.

Then again, soccer is a sport where they decided it makes sense for the clock to count up, instead of down, and apparently can't invest in a stopwatch for when the ball is out of play.

They did it cause with stopage time you can't have the clock counting to 0.

And the second part, they didn't do cause it will make the 90 minute games last waaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer. Heck basketball is supposed to last 40 minutes and it takes up 2 hours.

No, really, Spain sucks. They just pass the ball around. And pass. And pass. And pass. Over and over. Over and fucking over.

It's very unjust they won against Portugal. Near the end, Portugal even had a change to score but failed. I was actually happy, 'cause if they had, we would have to endure another half hour of Spain.

After the game, a comment in Brazilian TV made me laugh a lot. Some dude said that, to him, Spain is the best team in the tournament. It just has to solve its striker problem. By which he means that Spain doesn't have a striker.

Oh, yeah, of all the teams that don't have anyone to kick the ball in the net, Spain is the very best!

Spain is the most favored to win the world cup. But I really hope they don't.

Their football tactics are really boring. They play their ass off until they score a single goal to put them into the lead, and then defend until the end of the match, unless the other team ties the match, and they have to score another goal.

It resembles the Greek strategy a lot, only thing is Greece sucks, Spain on the other hand is one of the best teams in the world. You can't have one of the best teams playing defense until the game is over. I've seen Spain score at the 50th minutes of the match, with 40 minutes left until it's over, and they'd tighten their defense, and not risk on offense, with over 40 minutes of game time left. Come on!!!
