Really? Does it have component in? If it does, seems like 480p should be available by default. Either way I would use that connection with a component switch box for anything you have that can go component.
Reason to hang on to that 4:3 CRT, especially if confirmed 480p with that component input.
First most importantly is older lightgun support especially the PS2. The DVD player maximum resolution is 480p. Newer DVD upscaler players really don't improve a pic on a HD that much. Your DVD player which can be set to widescreen if you don't mind a squeezed full screen 4:3 image with no black bars on anamorphic movies. Of course your other older Retro consoles look better on CRT due to dot crawl and upscale issues of widescreen LCDs. My Sony which is a HD CRT actually works best at 480p due to being a 4:3. At 1080i setting, screen jumps to widescreen mode with black bars. Only thing I lost going HD on my CRT is older Lightgun support. Happy playing DVD, TV Cable box at 480p to maintain a full screen estate image. Also happy sticking with 4:3 since most my retro gaming supports that mode.
