Interesting business concept though.
Here are what some others are saying:
I'm not going to lie, I'm impressed...I tried it on my netbook and it actually ran very well. There's definitely a bit of input lag, but you get used to it fairly quick...
My computer is ancient so I'm quite enjoying it. Playing it with some lag is better than not playing it at all.
So, what I am gathering is that there is minimal lag and others have related it to using RCA cables on a Plasma TV.

I am going to wait until there are more games for me to select from before I get my free game. Ill keep everyone posted.

Im with Niode in thinking this is not practical right now, but it is impressive. I just dont like the idea of paying retail price for something I dont own, ever. Now if Onlive had reduced prices, I would be more interested. Granted I said the same thing about Steam.

With Steam, though, there's the expectation that if the service goes away the nice people on the internet will give us a way to continue playing our games. With OnLive you don't get that ability.

Both are valid, but if it means I can play Borderlands on my netbook, well that is a very interesting proposition. Dont get me wrong, I am still a hardcopy guy (bought some N64 games yesterday infact), but sometimes I just want to turn on the pc and go. Its not worth a monthly fee AND game price, but if they end up with a sale like steam did last winter, I might be swayed.

The fact that should your subscription lapse for 12 months you lose any and all games you have paid for, completely turns me off of the service. Not worth it, at all. Not in the way that I play games. I'll buy a game and not play it until 2 years later. I'm supposed to pay 1 month subs every 12 months just to keep access? That's just not practical, no matter how well your PR department spin it.

Onlive seemed to sacrifice framerate and clarity to overcome the demands of streaming. That said- some games worked better than others for me and once i got into it, i barely noticed lag or blurriness. I'm really impressed with what they've accomplished seeing as i kind of figured it would be vaporware. Even if onlive fails, i'm confident that this will be the future of gaming in the next 10-15 or so years.

The arena is incredible. btw. The thing about if this starts to take off- is that anyone would be able to watch anyone else play. MLG gamers. Celebrities. Anyone. That is exciting. Brag clips are fantastic. I can not wait to start playing online games like call of duty on this.

Right now- onlive is a fantastic way to try a game that you have interest in. We'll see how they roll with the pricing. I honestly don't mind the monthly fee, and if they start to have sales like steam- i'm totally TOTALLY on board. If they improve the framerates they'll be an intese competitor for steam and all consoles.

and I'm 'nickfil' on there if anyone wants to friend me.
