You should specify what you're doing. Windows Movie Maker is perfectly fine for making tutorials, or something of that nature. Of course, if you want to do something more, WMM might not cut it for you.

Im not sure what that means...and windows movie maker didn't come with 7...and my camera output in a format not supported by WMM anyway and converting is an absolute bitch.

What slow means is downloading a cracked version of the software. Adobe Premier is several hundred dollars (or is it over a thousand?) so he was hinting toward downloading a cracked version.

As far as I know, WMM comes with every version of 7 but you have to download it.

Try Adobe Elements. Basically it's a stripped down version of Premier (the thousand dollar one), but for 99% of what you will be doing it'll be great. Plus it's under $100

I have always been a fan of Sonic Foundry, now Sony Vegas, for low end work.

I havent used the newest, but it was a good bit more developed than WMM and did everything I needed it to do back then. But ever since I bought an AVID back in 04 I havent used it.
