New Futurama Starts Tonight!

Post by Ziggy »

Any one as excited as I am to be getting new Futurama tonight? I just found out that it's an hour premier (two episodes).

my favorite cartoon in it's genre (the simpsons rip off as I call it). Going to download it since those silly people at Fox don't want to make money by letting me see it on a streaming website with advertisements on the side.

My girlfriend and I already have plans to turn off the phone and pretend like the rest of the world doesn't exist tonight.

Seriously, if we were to hear someone get stabbed outside our front door while the new episode is on...well, let's just say they'd better be slow bleeders because they aren't getting any help until the credits roll.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

It's not like we would be the ones doing the stabbing. Besides, people get brutally wounded all the time. How often do we get to have a beloved institution like Futurama get revived after a 7 year hiatus? Priorities, my good man.

The original seasons (4?) before it got cancelled were great. Clever writing, good jokes intertwined within the plot and everything you could want... but you could sense toward the end of that 4th season that they were starting to struggle in coming up with compelling concepts and jokes that worked in unison like the episodes before.

Then came the movies, and they were lackluster in my opinion. There would be no interest in them for me had it not come off the back of a good run of seasons and fondness of the show. I chuckled here and there but, the ideas and conecepts were over elaborate and the jokes were less clever.

I caught the first episode of this new season (it leaked early), and it was not a great episode...possibly one of the lesser ones. Something about them kicking the bucket and being replaced by robots and... I dont know, I turned it off and went to bed.

I hope it gets better and doesnt go down the route of the Simpsons or ape 'the anything goes we dont care mentality' of Family Guy/Southpark. Original 4 seasons were more clever than those kind of shows. (Are the original writers still on-board?)

I will try a few more episodes, but, it has to pick itself up or I wont be watching it anymore.

Maybe it didn't change, maybe your tastes changed.

I loved the movies.

Futurama isn't ALL about the jokes.
