Yeah, the Pioneer LaserActive is a weird system. It didn't have, I believe, Super CD or Arcade CD support. It might have even lacked Sega CD support, I don't recall.

It did have Sega CD support and if you had the cards, Super CD and Arcade CD support (though due to it's release date I think it was able to play Super CDs too but don't quote me).

My old room mate had one wit hthe Genny guts. We used it as a movie LD player mostly. He did have Pyramid Patrol, and we stumbled across Space Berserker at a flea market (back when you could get cool stuff at flea markets). It was a neat idea, that never took off.

It didn't help that the thing cost an arm and a leg. You had to give up biological functions to own one. The LaserActive was a Richie Rich toy that topped even the Neo Geo Gold package.

I remember when this thing came out back in middle school. My friend Keith and I were drooling over it for months on end.

Neither of us had the money to get it, we barely scratched up the money doing small jobs to get our hands on a Sega CD each, let alone a LaserDisc/TG-16/SegaCD that was priced MUCH higher then that ebay auction.

This thing brand new seriously dragged in some major change.

I kinda still want one today, but I already own like 3 different versions of the SegaCD, and rarely play them.

I just picked one up in a trade. Now all I need to do is to find some games at a reasonable price. :D
