In Order to play every single NEC PC Engine/Turbo Grafx game, you would need:
A Supergrafx
A PC Engine Super CD-ROM²
And a Hu Card converter to play american games on the japanese hardware.
Correct?
What are the Best/Cheapest Hu card converters out there?
NEC turbografx compatibility

Re: NEC turbografx compatibility
I could never seem to find a converter to let me play American games on my Duo-R but if someone knows of where to buy them I would benefit from this info as well.
Re: NEC turbografx compatibility
Well, I was interested in a PC Engine because of the large percentage of shmups on that system (my favorite genre <3<3).

There's also the Arcade Card. You'll need that to play Sapphire.
You can find plans to make your own region converter at PCEngineFX.com. Unfortunately this still requires a mod to the console.

When I purchased my DUO-R the seller performed the mod for me. All I have to do is flix a switch to change the region. I realy want a Supergrafx but don't have the money to buy one right now.

US games check the region of the console, so you can't use a simple converter to play US games on a Japanese system. You can go the other way because the Japanese games don't check.Marspants wrote:I could never seem to find a converter to let me play American games on my Duo-R but if someone knows of where to buy them I would benefit from this info as well.

While the Turbografx can play PC Engine HuCards with a converter, it does not work the other way around. The PC Engine (or Supergrafx) MUST be physically modified to play Turbografx HuCards.
So, for ever game you would need a Supergrafx, Super CD-ROM² (or CD-ROM² plus the adapter to connect it to the Supergrafx) and an Arcade Card (either Pro or Duo is fine if you use the Super CD-ROM²).

May I ask what the difference is between an Arcade PRO and DUO card?
And I wouldn't want to mod a rare-ass Supergrafx anyway.
