hi Racketboy Team , i am having a issue with burnt backups on my just modded Saturn.
It is a 32-Pin SSaturn and im using Taiyo Yuden , ive tried 2 burnt games and they come up either ' Disc is unsuitable for this system ' or as Audio tracks.
I found a Troubleshooting guide on http://www.angelfire.com/pa/Raluminat/troubleshoot.html
and my symptoms are wacky , i get...........
- No bootup Animation
- 2 Green Cubes
- Originals work but backups dont
- CD rotates
btw i have done the A+B method on the Modchip
any info helps

Re: Modded Sega Saturn , not booting backups help !
Disc unsuitable is the message when the region doesn't match I believe. If you're burning backups, are they for the same region as your Saturn? If not you'll need to patch the region in the image before burning. Remember modchip lets you play burns, carts let you play from other regions. Still have to patch burns if not from your region.

Right, the 'disc unsuitable' message means that it IS a good burn but it's just not the correct region.
When downloading Sega Saturn images, you should always load the image into Saturn Region Patcher to view (and change, if needed) the region. ALWAYS!

For this disc that showed up as audio tracks, they're either bad burns or even bad images. You could try and load the image in an emulator to test it (just make sure the emulator supports the game). If the image plays in the emulator fine, try burning it slower and/or change the brand of CD-R.

Re: Modded Sega Saturn , not booting backups help !
hi guys im back , thanks both of you for the info...........the burnt game that came up as ' disc unsuitable ' was in JAP format i reburnt it and changed the Region to US.
While the CD-R was burning i opened up the Saturn and pushed the ribbon cable in a bit further to the modchip and when the CD-R finished i tested it wish worse results.
Somewhere somehow during pushing the ribbon cable something has gone wrong and now i have a worse problem.
With the chip in Originals wont boot nor Backups , i get these new symptoms......
-No boot up animation
-Two green cubes at the CD player screen
-No CD rotation
-Displays "checking disc format"
Ive been trying to get it back to my previous symptoms state but no go , something is up and i cant figure it out. I presume the Modchip has died , if i remove the chip and plug the ribbon cable straight to the Motherboard Originals work but if i plug the chip in i get the above symptoms.
Im going to get another chip sometime and see if that helps , maybe it could be something else dont know.
slightly bummed

Try your image in an emulator to verify you have a good image.
Re: Modded Sega Saturn , not booting backups help !
Do you have a multi-region booting cart? Like an Action Replay Plus 4 in 1? Can you play original import games?
Re: Modded Sega Saturn , not booting backups help !
Isn't the A+B method not 100%? Maybe you should try doing the traditional method.
But if the system is still giving you the "unsuitable" message, then your chip IS working, but the burned disc is the wrong region.

You might also try burning them on a different computer entirely. Some times Certain burners don't like certain discs.
