I think that the PSP was not very successful in trying to be a "jack of all trades", but I was left wondering how it would be useful for me to have a GPS receiver bundled into the 3DS - with the touchscreen it would be nifty. I doubt this will happen as even then the 3DS would never be a great GPS device and people just buy dedicated stuff for dedicated purposes (I tend to that myself).
I am aware that the PSP has a receiver but the lack of touchscreen to enter locations probably sucks a bit, and the receiver doesn't work too well from what I read.

Would you like the 3DS to have a GPS receiver?

the psp has a gps receiver? I guess my psp-1000 is too old!

Not built-in, it is an add-on. The 3DS could have one as an add-on as well as I guess if it was going to have it buil-in they would have mentioned already (and they haven't, as far as I'm aware).Riqz85 wrote:the psp has a gps receiver? I guess my psp-1000 is too old!

Maybe as an add-on, but as I have said in previous threads, game companies have to be sure not to get too close into iPhone territory, because a direct battle with it is certain defeat. Wasn't the DS supposed to get a Digital TV receiver as well?

GAME GEAR STYLE WOOOO!

Re: Would you like the 3DS to have a GPS receiver?
I wouldn't care for it. My iPhone has had one since 3G and I hardly ever use it. What exactly would it be used for? I tried to use my iPhone as a satnav replacement and it just wasn't accurate enough, and would take a while to locate satellites.

I realize I'm in the minority here. I forgot people use their mobiles for that, otherwise I wouldn't have posted. I barely use my mobile *at all*, therefore I was interested in having GPS on the thing I'm likely to have around on me frequently (a gaming machine).Niode wrote:I wouldn't care for it. So, how do GPS receiving works on a phone enabled with it? Do you pay extra for the service?

Well i have an Iphone 3G and it's not that good with its gps... Well yeah its nice to have in case of an emergency but it has its flaws. First of all if there's no h3g (for me, AT&T for you) coverage it won't work, it's very unprecise and sometimes even with coverage it still can't find where you are. You cannot rely on it that's for sure.

All I want the 3DS to do is play GAMES.
Re: Would you like the 3DS to have a GPS receiver?
Id love to have a GPS Cartridge for my 3DS. Like how there was the internet browser Cart for the 2DS.
