Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run

Post by Golgo 14 »

Does anyone know if it's possible to change player names in this game? And if so, how? Some people say the outlandish fake names are part of this game's charm, but I don't agree.

i don't find it charming either, but yeah that's the way it is. only Ken Griffey Jr made it as a whole. all the stats of the other players are correct though, just their names are changed.

the fake names are just awesome. it probably has been at least 12 years since i have played it last, but i think i remember some names:

big magoo = frank thomas
sandy falcon = deon sanders
muscles mcfee (greatest made up name ever) = barry bonds - i remember he was one of the only few players to have full power and full speed
lightening pete = randy johnson
morray rameriez = albert belle

and to answer your question, you cannot change the names. but you could in his first one. i remember my friends and i make up just absurd, vulgar names for some players.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Thanks for the info, even though it's bad news. I remember you were able to change the names in the first Griffey game and I just assumed it would be the same in this one. It would be a huge pain in the ass to do so, but I absolutely would. Oh well, it's still a good game. Awesome background sound.

Btw, the fake name situation is pretty unbelievable to me. You're willing to pay for the MLB license (good so far) and then you pay for the name rights and endorsement of one player (really doesn't add anything to the game) and forget the MLBPA license (aargh!)? I know Griffey Jr. was awesome and in 1996 he was AWESOME, but he's only one man!
