Would it be possible to mail a GameBoy game in an envelope using a postage stamp meant for letters? I weighed them and they seem to be under an oz and it looks like the max weight is 3.5 oz.
So, would it work?

I've had people send them to me like that. It pisses me off every time.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

My guess is that it looks like the shipper could care less about what condition the game arrives in.
Re: Shipping GB Games in Envelope with Stamp?
Probably because of the lack of protection. No bubble wrap? It would especially piss me off if I paid more than the price of a stamp for shipping. Most eBay auctions, shipping will be $2-5, something like that. You pay that much for shipping then find out the seller only paid for a stamp, kinda sucks.

It's in danger of being crushed that way. At least wrap some bubble wrap around it if you can't spring for a bubble mailer.

I have to use a hammer to crush a GB game.Hatta wrote:It's in danger of being crushed that way. At least wrap some bubble wrap around it if you can't spring for a bubble mailer.
I sent one in a regular envelope once because the buyer wanted it to, to save shipping. I put two stamps and wrapped it up, then taped the envelope. There wasn't any problems. But put it this way if the buyer doesn't mind and you pack it well, then there shouldn't be a problem. If you are just trying to screw the buyer by overcharging shipping, then shame on you. By the way always put atleast double the normal letter shipping because its not flat, its extra for bulky items. Two stamps should be fine.

You can ship it in an envelope, but the stamp covers flat flexible items (aka documents). There is a slot they slide your envelope through at the post office. It has to fit in that slot and even if it does fit but isn't document-like they may not let you ship it. I wouldn't recommend shipping that way though. I always wrapped a little bit of newspaper or something around the cartridge then put in an envelope (usually a thicker envelope) and shipped would still be under $2.00. I think I have shipped GBA games for $1.38.slowslow325 wrote:Would it be possible to mail a GameBoy game in an envelope using a postage stamp meant for letters? Either way take it to the post office when you mail it. Last thing you want to do is toss one or two stamps on it then cross your fingers. Wait several weeks to find out it wasn't sent, or that it was returned to you. Wastes your time and pisses your buyer off because they had to wait because you messed up while trying to skimp on shipping.

Shipping GB games in an envelope with stamps is like taking your cousin to the prom.
You can do it, but it's crass as hell.

I've done it often. I wrap the games in paper a few times and slip in an envelope. Shrug. I've received many like this as well. Doesn't bother me much. I've never had a problem with this method to be honest, so never knew it bothered others.
