Mulitplayer gameplay:
The Goldeneye map community is fuming:
Regenerating health
Iron sights
Dedicated melee button
Dedicated grenade button
spawning with gun
one hit melee kills
BUT the video does show us one INCREDIBLY important option in the game. At 18 seconds in the option screen the last option shows GCN controller rumble support. Which means cube controller support! Just give me full remapping on the cube controller and Ill be very happy. Hell Ill buy four new Nintendo Gamecube controllers.

Re: Goldeneye Remake coming out on Wii?
I'd be more annoyed with regenerating health except for the fact that the original Goldeneye didn't have a way of gaining back health at all, aside from body armor. In levels there'd be only one (if any; higher difficulties didn't have them) so it really was only for multiplayer. And if you're letting one guy continuously camp the body armor you deserve to lose. We'll have to see exactly how the mechanic works. I thought Alpha Protocol did health regen well; it wasn't really something you could use in combat, but was more of a way to keep you from screwing yourself in one firefight and then having a checkpoint save with you stuck at 5 HP to do an entire level.
Iron sights I don't care about, since I'll be using a Wiimote anyway. The melee button is a welcome change. One hit melee kills depends on whether or not I can reliably expect to get into melee range on opponents who can see me. If I sneak up behind them I don't see any problems with that, as at melee range from behind you better be winning with a gun anyways.

I am really just concenered about to parts:
1. That weapons will be in a layout system, ala Call of Duty, instead of a classic deathmatch style.
2. It wont have remappable controls.
Everything else I can deal with fairly easily, and I would gladly sacrifice the first one to have the second.

I guess the best outcome of this game is to convince people to take off their rose-tinted spectacles and realise Goldeneye's ultimately not the greatest fps game by a long shot.

I agree heavily ^__^
Personally i prefer Perfect Dark and Disruptor from that era >___>
Re: Goldeneye Remake coming out on Wii?
This kind of reminds me of recent movie remakes, where other than the name and situation, there is close to nothing to do with the original, and they all tend to bomb because people compare them to the original.
Its a double edged sword;
Attach name of something great to it, people are let down it does not compare to the 'classic'.
Use new name, run the risk of no one giving a shit about the game in the first place.
Of course if using the new name on a game that people actually play and enjoy then you have nothing but win!
Point of my story?
If it was not titled Goldeneye, would anyone give a shit?

I only have a problem with these. If one hit melee is only from behind I accept it. Iron sights only make the game slower, and less fun imo. Team Fortress 2 FTW.fastbilly1 wrote:

And regenerating health is no fun, because if a player has brought you down to 1 HP and you manage to kill him at the last second, his effort deserves to lead to your death.

Re: Goldeneye Remake coming out on Wii?
If they're smart they'll have a whole host of options so you can customize your multiplayer experience (no health regeneration, no melee with weapons, etc.). Just like the original Goldeneye had a ton of options. Who knows, maybe they'll even have a "Classic Goldeneye" mode where it pretty much mimics the N64 version but with updated graphics.

I feel sorry for anyone who's holding out hope for this game based on liking the N64 game. They will be nothing alike.
