God, I hope England gets eliminated. God-awful performance all around.

On a side note, American Conservatives declare war on the World Cup, haha: http://mediamatters.org/research/201006110040

Ah yes good ol' wikipedia

Rooney is such an oaf  Algeria's okay but the pressure's on them from England. The odds are still in the latter's favour.

Algeria should have been playing as France*

* Several Algerian players are French-born

Edit - France, Germany, Spain and England need to have some humble pie

During their first game against Slovenia, I recalled that the commenter said that only 2 of thte 11 players on field were born on Algerian soil.

England's game was not good for the US. It means that right now England is in a better place for the tie. We need a mighty win, or for England to lose, to get out of our pool, or else its going to be England and Slovenia...

If both England and the USA win their next games, they will be the teams going through. The table would be England and USA - 5 points, Slovenia - 4 points, Algeria - 1 point.

Based on Englands performance yesterday though, I imagine we'll see Slovenia and the USA going through.

omfg I just saw in the news the goal USA scored, that the referee did not count. OMFG. Not only did the other team commit enough fouls in that play for 2-3 penalties, he actually cancels a legit goal.

There isn't even 0.0000001% chance of one of your players being offside. Shitty move.

BTW gratz for not giving up and overturning a 2-0 game. Yeah in my mind that goal counts.

I don't know what the ref saw from his POV but it's been the tradition to respect the referees' calls even if they seem illogical. I find no reason to change this tradition, but I wonder whether corruption plays a role here? (of course it'd be ridiculous to accuse this particular ref of anything of the sort)

Oz might as well just pack up and leave.. So many red cards I wonder how do they expect to keep playing  Definitely my least favourite team of them all.
