yeah, but I think the random order of buildings keeps things fresh.

because generally speaking when there's lists or threads about "worst games ever" this one seems to pop right up. Even the Angry Video Game Nerd tore it to shreds.
Well, that little rainbow logo taints it pretty bad. I haven't tried NoES myself, but the other LJN games I've played were terrible so admittedly I'm at least suspect myself, not having tried it.

sigh. See what I mean?

well Friday The 13th is another favorite of mine. And LJN's RBI Baseball is still one of my favorite Baseball games of all time. There's other good ones, if I take the time to think about it...

Oh I know that I can't say because I haven't tried it, but LJN/Acclaim's quality level on the NES was quite lacking. I'm just saying where people's tainted or ill informed opinions come from if they haven't actually tried it.

I love this game! I remember playing it 4 player back in the day and having a blast. Very cool game. I have heard it bashed on a lot too and it always seemed strange to me.

that's the other thing. This is the ONLY 4-Player NES game that I remember having loooooooooooong 4-Player sessions with. So great.

I'll have to check it out and see for myself, I honestly never played it before. Seems like people either love it or hate it. But if it's anything like Friday the 13th, I'll have to pass.

If the AVGN covered it, chances are everybody's gonna bash it, regardless of whether or not they played it... *sigh*

I, for one, really liked Friday the 13th when I was a kid.. It was the first game to scare the $%^& outta me while playing up all night with the lights out in my room.. Also chock-full of nice little lessons in micro-management.

I also liked Nightmare, if nothing else, for the background music..

After watching all the Nightmare movies again, I had to play the game. I knew I didn't love it, but I wanted to play it again.

I had no idea that you were supposed to pick up the bones. No clue. Much like my time with Castlevania 2, without someone telling you "oh hey this is what you're looking for" you're kind of in the wild. I never had manuals for my games, and typically, they weren't entirely informative either. That's what I hated. Where as most games are left to right, this one requires a little more than that - and going in not knowing that makes it seem stupid.

The game itself is a fun little game. I like this style of jumping fighting enemies, collect stuff. I don't love it, but I like it. If I ever get out to a convention where I'm amongst my people, I'm bringing an NES and the four player thing and this and doing some four player Freddy Krueger ass kicking. That for me is the best part, I really wish Fred was playable, but I'll settle for this if I have to.

Oh and did anyone look at the title screen to see who made this? It wasn't just LJN. It was the guys who made Donkey Kong Country and Battletoads, Rare. I couldn't believe that when I read it, but after playing it again it does feel like one of their NES games and seemed to make a lot of sense to me.

it's really nothing like the F13 game, actually. I like them both, but Nightmare is a much better game. You get to switch "dream warriors" in play, each with their own skills. Also, it has incredible music.
