2010: Year of the Return of the Sidescroller?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 too, er... also.

Just remember this the next time someone whines about first person shooter bloat. There's more 2D sidescrollers coming out next year than FPSs.
Is anyone else tired of the same game with different iterations?
Obviously not.

Ok, looked up that scott pilgrim game. Looks awesome. But it's more of a beat em up than a plain sidescroller.
Wait, are beat'em ups not sidescrollers now?

I have been desperately wishing for the last year or so that Nintendo would release a NEW GAME full stop tbh...

And not only nintendo. Is anyone else tired of the same game with different iterations?
First of all to answer your question, not really.

Second, Nintendo has made new ideas over the past years. Nintendogs, Pikmin, Wii Sports, etc. And a new one for 3DS is Steel Diver.

There aren't many, but there are a good amount. What do you expect? Every game to be completely new? No system (except maybe the first out by the developer) is like that. They all just have a couple completely original games.

Plus, they're fun, so deal with it.

here's the thing, sequels are infinitely more hype-able than new products for obvious reasons.

There have been a lot of new IPs this gen, and not just from nintendo either. People kinda ignore them though for whatever reason.

I guess technically they are, but I meant sidescroller as in your character moves on a single plane of depth.

At present, its only competition in the Best Platformer category is Epic Mickey for the Nintendo Wii.
Yeah, so they're leaving out Kirby, DKC, and Sonic Colors DS.
