I could care less for modern retail sidescrollers, this is why I own retro consoles. I want my DK 64 sequel.AppleQueso wrote:I said it in another thread: This attitude is why we dont' get retail sidescrollers often anymore.Kid Dracula wrote:While this is most great and awaited news....I think something else should've been done. They should've released this for wiiware and gave us a brand new Donkey Kong game in the vein of DK64. Don't get me wrong, this is awesome but I was hoping for a more DK64 type game. Still gonna get it nonetheless.

I dunno. Looking at the trailer (which only shows a portion of the games total levels, it stands to reason) I think this game would be WAY too big for wiiware. There are a lot of art values and there always seems to be a lot going on in every screen.Kid Dracula wrote:While this is most great and awaited news....I think something else should've been done. Frankly, this is what I always hoped sidescrollers would evolve into. I'll be in line for the release.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
but thanks to this little thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Super_Mario_Bros._Wii
and it's 14 million sales in 6 months I think it's safe to say that 2D platformers are coming back.
HELL YEAH. And WiiWare release for this would be just a waste since people wouldn't buy it.
And ll those 2D platformers released on PSN and XBLA
are either remakes, or very short and always look sub-par compared to other games on the platform.
this game on the other hand has high productions values. Heck Retro made Metroid Prime, I'd think
they have a big enough studio to handle quality releases.

Does anyone know the breakdown of a game retail cost? That is, what percentage goes to the publisher/developer/retailer?ZeroAX wrote:but thanks to this little thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Super_Mario_Bros._Wii

So if NSMBW sells for $49 on Amazon, how much goes to Nintendo versus Amazon? Would $40 for Nintendo and $9 for Amazon be typical?

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
One thing I don't like about this game is that you have the ability to switch between the background and foreground. That's also the one thing I didn't like about Little Big Planet, it just makes it more complicated for no reason.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
I like that feature in LBP, but I don't think I would like it in a DKC game. I would want DKC Returns to stay true to the original games.
That being said, here's the biggest thing I'm worried about: Who's doing the music for this game? It better be Dave Wise, or I'll probably be hugely disappointed with this game. The music in the 3 DKC's were absolutely amazing, and one of the best parts of the game. Even if the rest of the game is golden, mediocre music would be a huge let down for me.
