Even if the Kinect is $99 with no software its still to exspenive as a "add on". Of course it seems cheap to the "hardcore" gaming crowd. But not to the "casual" market like MS is trying to cater to. Wondering if gamespot wasn't paid off by microsoft to display a $150 price point, and then release it at $99 just a ooooooooooooooh its cheaper then I tought it was going to be tatic.

I have trouble precisely navigating the iphone, god knows what a pain this will be with no feedback at all

Why is everyone assuming that the Kinect won't be bundled with software? If they learned anything from Nintendo (which clearly they did), I think a tie-in with the advertised games is a given.

My real disappointment was Time Crisis for the PS3. The light-gun, while bulky, was astoundingly awesome and accurate. Sad only one title came out that used it.

Why is it that even though the wiimote is technically just a more advanced lightgun, it's nowhere near as awesome?

Because its slow and inaccurate. That's all. The PS3 gun, using similar technology (LED lights), was incredibly fast and accurate. And, of course, its a friggin' gun.

The WiiMote, on the surface, is one of the most brilliant things coming to a console in recent memory. Not for the reasons you might thing -- not because it can be used as a light-gun/pointer, and not for the motion controls. The thing that made the Wii awesome was that it is, essentially, a modular head unit. You put the batteries and all the logic in the WiiMote, and can then connect whatever accessory you like to it. Because the WiiMote is the brain, anything connected to it could be done cheaply.

And that, I think, is the real shame. Outside of the classic controller, nothing really plugs into the WiiMote. How awesome would it have been to plug in a classic paddle controller into the WiiMote? That would have made Bit.Trip.Beat vastly better.

It's a really particular example, but since the 360 controller turns itself off after a few minutes it's a real pain for watching movies. having to wait 15 seconds to pause a movie, or tto turn it back on after a episode gets over on netflix gets old real fast. If it does work well, it'd be nice to be able to browse movies/music from anywhere in the room without having to tote a remote or controller around.

I thought somebody had already said it was coming with software.
