you are speaking the truth there my friend
Yeah that's why the N64 and Gamecube were number one in sales while they were out.
oh wait...
I said a lot of people. Not everyone.

Good question. Perhaps that's where Sony's "Move" system will shine?pepharytheworm wrote:does any body know if you can also use objects while using Kinect? like a handle or sterring wheel. It seem a litle awkward just using your hands to hold a sword.

On the right track here, but it doesn't have anything to do with the name on the box, it has to do with what the current popular fad is. Right now that's the Wii, which has nothing to do with it being made by nintendo. Most attempts by other companies at cashing in on a current fad have failed. After furby nobody succeeded with robotic pets at the same level. After Ninja turtles, no amount of toxic biker sharks from the streets of mars reached the same level.
Another thing I wonder about; How many wiis sold at the height of its popularity even get played anymore? Sure they sold a lot in the first couple years, and games are selling it a consistent rate, but is anybody really excited about motion controls or this whole concept like they were in 2006?

You're wrong. I can assure you that millions of parents have bought Wii's and DS's for their kids knowing that they're not going to get as much violent, mature content on there as on other platforms. Nintendo is a name they can trust. After all, many of us grew up playing Nintendo. They're known to be kid-friendly. So it does make a difference that it says Nintendo on the box.Jrecee wrote:Weekend_Warrior wrote:Ya know, I wish Microsoft would just realize that a lot of people/families out there buy systems not because of the fun, accessible games that are available for it, but rather because it says "Nintendo" on the box.

As far as the extended audience is concerned, absolutely. People who are raising families and bringing a new game system into the home for their children now more than likely grew up with Nintendo systems/games more so than any other competitor.. No other company has branded itself as fun for everyone the way Nintendo has. Whereas Sony and Microsoft went after the more mature gamer if you will a market that EA really helped bring to fruition in the Sega Genesis days and something that Sony really expanded big time with the Playstation and more so with the P2 by for that young 20 something adult audience with realistic sports simulations and more adult themed games.
I guarantee you ask the average parent and most won't know what a Xbox 360 or Master Chief or whatever is but most likely they know what Nintendo, Mario and Donkey Kong are. And that alone, makes any Nintendo console (or hand held) synonymous with family friendly gaming. It is called name recognition and it can not be disputed that Nintendo has far more of it than any of their competitors especially when it comes to providing children with entertainment.

That could put an interesting spin on Custer's Revenge.
