360 joystick on Dreamcast/Dual stick controler mod(NEW)

Hey guy's, just thought I would share a kool mod that a friend just made over at Dreamcast-Talk forums.




I have a seperate guy making me one, and I have wanted this mod for a long time! It's just great to see my idea implimented! If there is anything I hate about my favorite console, it has to be that mushroom hard plastic joystick! This is a MUCH better improvement over the original!

This joystic is so uncomfortable!

My finger always ended up slipping off the original joystick, and it started rubbing my bone after playing it for too long. It might just be me, but the original joystick rotated a little like a paddle, making it hard to control.

Yeah, thats why I hate them so much, now it should feel like a 360 and a half controller haha. When I get mine I will review it and let everyone know how good it feels. That thing just looks so much better in the pictures!

You should have got the buttons replaced to with 360 ones. Maybe even the triggers that would be pretty sick.

That controller has a blue swirl, so I assume you're in Europe somewhere. I've seen rubber toppers for pads sold at Gamestop here in the US. I've almost bought some to try on various system pads I have acquired where the rubber is worn or gone completely.

This guy didn't do that, but the guy making mine replaced the triger springs with a 360 springs, and was trying to figure out how to change the buttons to 360's too. He went to a local GameStop and got a crapload of broken 360 and PS3 controllers and is experimenting with them now. Hopefullly he can manage to make 360 face buttons work on it, but we I'll have to see how it goes.

Well, that guy is from Britton that made the one in the pictures above, however I am from Texas, and the other guy making mine is in Colorado.

That rubber topper you speak of, was it lime green and for 360? I had some years ago, and lost them, but they are concave, and I reckon that they wouldn't fit on the mushroom joystic on the DC.

I think they were black or dark grey when I saw them. Been a while since I noticed them.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 360 controller with a dreamcast built into its shell. Have the battery pack replaced with a vmu and have the cord come out of where the microphone jack is. Man I want to do that the 360 Controller aside from its D-pad is the perfect controller. Just have to find a decent D-pad to replace it with or I could try to find one of those UK controllers with the 32 points of direction!

I made the controller in the pictures - and I'm working on 360 button faces onto Dreamcast ones!

Will keep thread updated
