Ah, something you posted earlier made me think you were off. I am watching at home, as I am off until after the 4th of July.

Man Mexico has been really unlucky. All and all a good first half but with no goals :(. I have to say South Africa's forwarded middle line is quite a gutsy tactic. Only thing is it can backfire easily, since it can wear down it's players in no time.

EDIT after end of game.

Ok South Africa was really lucky to get even the tie point. As I thought they were out of energy in the second half, so they retreated behind the middle line, and hoped for a counterattack to score a goal. Well they were lucky enough to score one pretty early in the second half, and they decided to just give up and play even tighter defense, and hope for another miracle counter attack chance.

I was happy Mexico tied the game, and imo deserved to win, but they weren't lucky enough to score a second goal.

I love when teams score with a counter attack since it's one of the best plays the game has to offer, but not when that counter attack is a product of a tight defense, that never risks on offense.

Opener was a decent enough match. 1-1 and left the tradition of the host team not losing alive. I hope they both move out of their pot.

So is this the first time ever the first two games are ties? Uruguay had me scared at the end there.

And man alive, I want a Dos Equis...

hm. perhaps FIFA should stop counting ties, so a tied game goes to overtime and then penalty shots.

anyway don't worry in the knockout stage it's really really exciting since a tie can't cut it anymore, and no one wants to allow the game to be decided at penalty shots

Greece isn't in a good position. They're likely to lose this match!

Also, what is it with those noisemakers or whatever they're called? Damn annoying..

How bad were Greece in that game!? South Korea won easily.

As for the discussion a bit earlier in the thread, a lot of the time football can be quite boring, but it's a lot more interesting if you actually have a team to support. For instance, what can look like a boring 1-0 to an outsider can actually be a really close and intense game to someone who cares about the outcome.

I'm looking forward to England vs USA later on which should be a good game. Not supporting either team although it would be pretty funny if England were to lose seeing as the media think that they are going to coast through their group.
Here in Scotland, whenever we don't qualify (which is often  ) there is always a debate about whether we should cheer for England instead, or not - and it always ends up in an argument over English arrogance vs Scottish pettiness. Most of the people I know are supporting the USA however.
But yeah, personally I'm sitting on the fence, because I'm familiar with all the English players, but at the same time it would be funny if they fell flat on their faces after all the hype.

I was working, but I caught the end of Argentina and Nigeria. Game seemed to have been fun.

I really can't believe South Korea beat Greece. But, since I wasn't able to watch the game, I'll wait for the resident Greek's opinion on the matter. Everyone seems to think Greece was horrible.
