It helps having a spectator. My GF likes watching me play RPGs, and sometimes she's even more eager to go play than I am. It's helped me finish lots of RPGs, but at the expense of time playing action games.

I find it difficult to play rpgs at all these days. Wife, kid, job= not a lot of time to play games in general, so trying to keep up with the storyline of an rpg while only playing a few hours week to play is disgruntling.

yeah I can get into an RPG, but if I go TOO MANY days without playing, then I sort of forget where I am in the story.

yeah, myself also. the last RPG i finished was Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES back in the late 90s. The most recent one i've played is Golden Sun for the GBA. I would probably have to start over again to remember everything i did. It's a fun game from what i've played so far.

I have played through and beaten maybe around 50 rpgs and I have about 20 left unfinished close to the end. Most recently I am at the end boss in DQ VII, Parasite EVE and Tales of Symphonia, half way through Lufia II, Wild Arms, and Final Fantasy VI, and almost done with Chrono Trigger, Baten Katos, Final Fantasy III (DS), and Swordcraft story 2 GBA.

I find that the reason I leve so many unfinished are:

1. I played the game for so many hours that the repetetive gameplay gets to me.

2. I stopped playing for some reason or other and can't play it again because I feel too much time has passed and I feel I forgot some of the story.

3. I bore myself by trying to be a completist, making the game take longer thanm it should.

5. I buy a new RPG and am too excited to play so I forget about the current one I am playing.

6. Burn myself out by playing 20hrs of the game in 2 days when it starts.

7. The #1 reason I don't finish is because I don't want the game to end so I slow down then eventually stop all togther.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

honestly, the last RPG I played to completion was...

...

my god I think it might've been the last time I replayed Final Fantasy VII, which was at least 3 years ago.

I just don't have time for it, really. Even when I do have time, I feel like I'm wasting it if I sit there playing a big RPG the whole time.
