MGS 2 - started on Plant Chapter. What gives?

Since someone has already explained the tanker chapter skip thing, I'll just add that since MGS2 is a direct sequel you may want to stop where you are, play MGS1 and then go back to MGS2. If not just for the sake of the story making a tad bit more sense.

Either way, have fun!

As we are into the topic somewhat, I'm playing Metal Gear: Acid on the PSP without having played any MGS before and I don't understand half of the plot. But I thought that was part for the course with Metal Gear games. I feel asleep :P

Metal Gear Acid is a very bad game tbh if you havent played the other games. It's like a fun portable game that has nothing to do with the real metal gear series... It has references but that's about it. Try and pick up the first on ps1 or gc and see how it is for you

Stop what you are doing and go play MGS. Don't bother with the Gamecube port, it blows. It's the worst game in the entire series. Yes, worse than the NES 'port' of MG1 or Acid 1 and 2.

The NTSC version of Twin Snakes is far better; PAL did get shafted on this game... So if you have NTSC go for Twin Snakes; if not go for the original on Playstation. I recently played the original on Playstation and the remake on Gamecube and I really enjoyed the re-done cut scenes and updated graphics... mainly the cut scenes because on Playstation they were fairly grainy/hazy and the models were pretty plain.

You can Bleem the PS1 or get the PC version. Still trying to find out if the Gamecube or PC version unlocks the 1998 Tokyo Promo Video at higher quality video. Its on the PS1 VR Missions, guess I'll have to play all the PC missions.

The very best cut scene.

EDIT
The Gamecube Twin Snakes has the same actors but lost some of the charm of various country accents.
Happy to report that the PC version has all the identical music, and accented voices.
PC version includes PS1 VR missions, the hunt is on for that VR Mission video unlock!
1024x768 resolution and alternate First Person look mode.

Twin Snakes is a pile of crap, scenes removed, voices changed, overall an easier game. Do yourself a favor and play the original. If blocky textures prevent you from playing then... Oh my...

The graphics on MGS1 are perfect. They have aged very well in comparison to other games on the PS1. It's all in the cinematography, I have to admit that the perfect version of MGS1 has to be the Dreamcast version. Get the full version of Bleemcast (you can get it from UG or Snesorama) and have an empty VMU handy (it has to be formatted to the PS1 format, you can't use it for DC saves until you format it again using the DC menu).

Once you get your head around the controls it's perfect. It's so smooth and responsive to play with no texture jumping, or jaggies.

I have both MgS1 for ps1 and twin snakes GC. I don't understand the slagging off of twin snakes. It wasn't crap like everyone is saying, it was a good "REMAKE" of mgs1. In that I mean it was nice to replay through mgs1 with some new cutscenes and updated graphics. I do agree that it's different to mgs1 but it's still a game to be played if you loved mgs1
