Best Final Fantasy game? (in your opinion)

As I recall, what I hated the most about the game is that Ultimecia's motivations were never explained. Actually, Dr. Odine, I think, when asked once in the game about why Ultimecia was trying to compress time, said something to the effect of: "Well, we'll talk about that later".

Ya, I always had trouble of really understanding what her motives were as well. I do know that final series of boss fights against her were so difficult. At least for me.

I have only really played two FF games and that was 10 and Tactics Advance, and Tactics Advance was so god awful I am ashamed to own it... so I guess I have to default with 10.

I don't get the X hate. I liked X. I think it was the last decent one they've put out. I didn't much care for the FF tactics advance games, but only because they were more grindy, and not at all what I hoped a follow up to the original tactics would have been like.

what? First of all, there's only ONE FFTA game. Not gameS. And second of all, how could a game that is basically NOTHING but battles, NOT be grindy?

FFXI X isn't hated by the majority of folk, but those that dislike it are quite vocal, and it probably receives a lot more disdain than most games in the Final Fantasy series (barring, perhaps, VIII). The narrative of X is a mess, with a few of the most insipid characters the series has ever had (made worse by the fact it was the first vocal Final Fantasy title). And though the series had young, whiny protagonists before, Tidus took it to a whole new level which the series would continue with every game but their MMO since. It's not a terrible game, but the second time I played the game I couldn't even finish it because the characters just bothered me too much (and the story is completely forgettable - though I say that of 97% of RPGs).

Ah, my bad. Didn't think of the DS game. The word Advance instantly made me think of GBA only. You'd think the DS sequel would've just been called FFTDS or something. Haha.

FFTA is one of my all time favorite strategy games. I love it.

The actually game play of FFTA wasn't actually that bad, it was the story that was so stupid that I had no incentive to continue playing.
