Not a big Sports Fan, but really got into this Rugby game. Great acting, great story of pulling a Country together. Shame the DVD didn't go into more detail in Special Features. I am curious how much impact in real events the rugby team had with Mandela in this grand docudrama.
Full of emotion, Eastwood, Freeman and Damon are at their best.
I know the celebration at the end was toned down. Is it Rugby or Football(Soccer) where fans would riot and tip cars when losing and tip cars when winning.
Ienzo wrote:Saw this one about a month ago. It's called Air Doll. It's a Japanese film about a sex doll who comes to life and explores the city of Tokyo around her unbeknownst to her owner. It's got a lot of social commentary on life . I thought the cinematography of the movie was excellent in encapturing the city of Tokyo on film. Soundtrack is great as well, being done by one of my favorite artists, World's End Girlfriend. Definitely worth checking out.
8/10
Reminds me of Natural City. Hopefully it won't be a Blade runner ripoff!

Isn't this supposed to come out in August?
Also, note how the actor is bowing his head so that his face isn't shown. Shia LaBeouf he isn't but he's far less annoying.. Except for that Juno travesty of course

I find it weird that anyone would enjoy torture porn. But that's just me. SAW single-handedly ruined any hope for the horror genre.
Saw wasnt the first movie to do that, I think as far as theater releases, there is a lot of crap, but if you know where to look, there are a lot of really good horror movies still coming out-dont lose hope
Here's a few more reviews. I’m now up to over 100 of these in the past year! I'm debating making a link to all of them somehow...
Moonraker (1979) – I thought Live and Let Die was a disappointing Bond film, but Moonraker proved to be much worse. There’s just nothing about the film that is especially entertaining. The villain is the most bland of any Bond film I’ve seen so far, Moore spends more time hamming it up then taking the role seriously, and the action scenes – aside from the over-the-top one at the final – just aren’t very well put together. It starts decently enough and ends decently enough, but the two hours in between feel like a plodding three hours. I know I'm not watching all the films in order and that The Spy Who Loved Me preceded this, but in the order I am viewing them, this was a disappointing follow up to The Man with the Golden Gun.
Grade: 1.5/5
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976) – This film is all about atmosphere and pacing, and Carpenter is clearly at the top of his game here. The first ¾ of the film are especially tense and compelling, and the last ¼ is bogged down only by cheesy dialogue, forced sexual tension, and a less than fitting final few scenes. Nonetheless, everything beforehand is compelling film making. Of special note is Carpenter’s work on the main theme, which in my mind is the best score Carpenter has written (trumping even Halloween). If, like me, you’ve only seen the more recent remake (which isn’t as good, but isn’t bad), don’t let your impressions of that film keep you from watching this one. Recommended.
Grade: 4/5
Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) – My principal complaint with the first film was that it too often strayed away from the more interesting horror/gore stuff to focus on the less interesting parts of the story. My complaint with the second one is the opposite – that there is too much focus on the effects than on anything that resembles a sensible plot. Most of the first 1/3 of the film is spent re-telling the events of the first movie, complete with frequent cut scenes from that film. When the story of this sequel finally gets going, they immediately start to break most of the ground rules for how the supernatural elements worked in the first film. There is so much inconsistency and so many plot holes that the often eye-grabbing special effects lose much of their potential impact. The director’s version of hell is frankly somewhat boring, and the best parts – the “monster” effects – are clearly just eye candy for the sake of eye candy. So while I didn’t care for the first film much, this one is even worse. I’ll still give part 3 a watch in the hopes that they put together strong effects with a well-told story, but at this point my hopes are not high.
Grade: 2/5
Next up: More sci-fi and horror most likely, although I can see getting burned out on them soon. I’ll probably also watch the next Bond flick, For Your Eyes Only, in the next couple of days.
the other day i saw that "blank check" was airing on abc fam this afternoon and i HAD to record it. it was a movie i saw when i was younger. today i actually sat down and watched most of it. wow, is it bad. and it isn't a so-bad-it's-good movie either.
it is about a kid who is given a blank check after being hit by a car. the kid writes it out for 1 mil and somehow ends up buying a fucking mansion and every toy ever invented. and then a hot older lady and him go on dates. this isn't like a he is 20 and she is 25 mismatch, but more like a he is 12 she is 30 mismatch. it seriously is disgusting how they portray the relationship between the young kid and the older lady. at the end she even gives the kid a kiss.
and he still somehow manages to have money left over to hire a full time limo driver. any scene the limo drive was in was the best part of the movie because he was somewhat humerus.
