Saturn cd mount thing depressed?

Post by hooby3d »

Console: Japanese Sega Saturn (no mods) Model 1

Problem: After playing a game, I went to eject it, and since it was my first time using a Saturn, I just pushed down on the center cd mount cylinder with the ball bearings, and instead of popping the cd up (like a gamecube), the whole cd mount/motor unit like pushed down into the console :(.
I was surprised and was like "Oh crap, did I just break the Saturn?" I tried to pull it back up, but it seemed stuck. I wasnt sure if the Saturn has an automatic push down-come back up motor, or something.
Has this ever happened to anyone? I didnt push that hard to eject the game.

So to basically re-summarize the problem: The center cd holder part has sunk into the laser chassis about a 1/4 inch.
When I put a game in the spot it usually goes, the cd just sits flush with bottom of the tray - the holder pin thing is like stuck down below where it should be, so the cd cant clip into place.
What can I do?

Thanks.

My Saturn does it too. It works fine though. The Saturn drive isn't really secure.

i think he is saying it is stuck down... not that it goes down and comes back up.

...

take the top of the case off and see what the hell is keeping it from coming back up. It could just be a bit of plastic or something.

Mine goes down when I press it and comes up right afterwards. I also suggest opening it up and looking around inside.
