Here´s a suggestion for a new article.
ps1 and (old school) arcade games on psn. There´s alot of retro stuf there.
personally, looking at the japanese psn I can hardly tell what´s good or not.
I heard that money idol exchanger is up there and that it´s a neo geo puzzler for instance.
I did not know that. Perhaps The Racketboy movement can shed some light or at least share what some of the cooler awesome hidden gems are on psn.
what do you guys recommend?
I can think of some cool stuff:
donpachi
dodonpachi
sonic wings special (I think, but doubting if it is there or not on psn)
ray storm remake
ray storm ps version (I think I would rather get: ray storm remake)
ray crisis
money idol exchanger

Re: retro on PSN
Great idea! If not a formal article, maybe members can throw stuff in here.
I'll start the reviews. First off, I don't have PSN, my son does.
But I'll throw in info about this great Neo Geo Gem.
MONEY IDOL EXCHANGER (MONEY PUZZLE EXCHANGER)
Similar in game play to another Neo Geo classic Magical Drop, a variance of Puzzle Bobble. Instead of shooting a colored matching bubble angled Artillery Duel style, the "gun" is moved side to side as in Space Invaders. Same principle of matching colors to pop the bubbles but with a twist. Coins slowly scrolling down can be pulled down to the gun, moved left or right then shot up to matching coins. Another older game that did this is Hookstone Ltd's ZOOP. The idea is combining a certain denominator. Exchange coins of 5 ones into a 5 coin, two 5s to a 10 coin, five 10s to a 50 coin, two 50s to a 100 coin, five 100s to 500 coin. When two 500 coins are combined they disappear. Seems a math daunting dilemma, but actually easy and very very addicting.
Any Bejeweled fan will feel right at home playing this great forgotten puzzler.

Re: retro on PSN
You would have to be conscious of what games are available for what region though. EG we got Vagrant Story but the US didn't.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
Re: retro on PSN
I don't think Dodonpachi is on the JP PSN (yet). I'm pretty sure that Sonic Wings Special is.

The US never got Vagrant Story on PSN. I just looked. I was excited there because I heard it was good.avrame wrote:EG we got Vagrant Story but the US didn't.Not sure if that was a random example, but we got Vagrant Story in the USA, good game I might add, took me a good 10 hours to figure out what the heck I'm doing though.

Re: retro on PSN
Why would it matter on what psn store what is?
psn cards?
or perhaps us citizens cannot buy EU stuff because EU does not have psn cards?
anyway, I´m a very quick calculator mathematicion, would that benefit me in Money idol exchanger?
I really recommend Sonic Wings special, I have it on disc.
DoDonpachi not out yet?

I haven´t checked for it.
still need to get a japanese psn card
