Re: Vote for the New Genre Forum Section
Two others to consider adding:
*Shooters (shmups, run-n-gun, and FPS, etc. all in one forum)
*Other (for platform specific discussion that doesn't fit elsewhere - e.g. for discussing puzzle or sports games, in case we don't create a new forum for those)

I second that idea.dsheinem wrote:Two others to consider adding:

I voted for Platformers and Adventure (or I would like Action/Adventure), since this is a retro site and these two categories seem be more retro related.
Re: Vote for the New Genre Forum Section
I'm very much ok with the idea of others, simply because so many of the off-genre forums don't get a lot of use. Then again, I quite enjoy the shooter section of the forum, even without frequent use. It's nice to be able to click on a forum topic and see a wealth of posts, even if they haven't been frequently updated.
My primary reservation with more genres is that there are websites devoted to singular genres. That said, I'd love to see a rhythm game section (though I have no idea why it would be merged with puzzles - huh?). I'd even be happy to make a few comprehensive threads to get the board started.
On a tangent, since I don't know of any rhythm game topics outside of the forum, is there a desire for a Rhythm Game 101 article or anything of the sort? And for that matter, an article about controllers? I'd be happy to be contribute, if anyone wants to throw out some requests.

Re: Vote for the New Genre Forum Section
Platformers was a no brainer. Such a huge genre it used to be. Plenty to talk about. I couldn't make up my mind between action and adventure though, but I went with action as I think a lot of games I like fall under that.

I would love a point & click adventure section, so I voted adventure.
I would have loved to see a INDY Gaming section.

See I'm a little uncertain about some of those categories. I didn't think of point and click adventure games when I saw the Adventure category, because I'm thinking like a console gamer rather than a PC gameremwearz wrote:I would love a point & click adventure section, so I voted adventure.
