Earthworm Jim is coming to PSN and XBLA in HD and... it looks kind of crap.

Really this game looks worse than the Mega Drive imo. The graphics on the MD at least have that pixelization that makes you nostalgic. These graphics just looks like they are made in flash and for a strange reason, I just don't like them.

You'll probably think I'm strange, but I didn't like any of the HD upgrades to retro games. Rocket Knight looks and plays, well, boring. 2D Mario with 3D kind of works, but I would have liked Yoshi's Island style 2D paintings more, and Sonic 4 just looks horrible

If you liked the game when you were a kid and are not a retro gamer, it will most likely look just as cartoony as it did back in the day (Remember how MI3 use to look like a real cartoon), heaps of people will like this.

I will stick the the MD version myself.

I swear we talked about this exact same topic last year. Has it taken them this long to polish it for the HD release?

I hope they smooth out the animations a bit so they look less flash-game, otherwise I'm liking the coop and new levels gimmick!

I find myself agreeing with this bit... the Rocket Knight remake totally missed the mark for me. The retro graphics were much better and had personality than the 3D generic-ness; also the gameplay seems to suffer quite a bit compared to the original. I find Sonic 4 looking the same way with 3D generic boredom... I miss the old style. Mega Man 9 and 10 were great retro remakes in the style I prefer. Earthworm Jim looks a lot better to me than the other remakes recently released. It is on par with the graphics of the old game and I'm sure the audio is miles better/clearer. It looks like it has some of the exclusive levels from the different versions, coop, and added levels to explore. The only thing I wish was that it came on a disc instead of only in digital form :?

This is the problem I have. Sure the frames look nice, but that makes the lack of them extremely noticeable and overall makes the game come off as somewhat sloppy. New levels sounds interesting, and coop could go either way. I'm not writing this one off, but my hopes aren't quite peaked either.

This looks good to me, not keen on the multi-player though, as that typically means stupid multi-player achievements.

Aren't achievements suppossed to reflected INDIVIDUAL accomplishments? Oh wait, I forgot, Microsoft wants every dollar they can get from Xbox Live Gold subscriptions
