You could test if the NFR copy is a "full" copy by getting yourself HD Loader. Burn both copies onto your hard drive, and see if they take up the same amount of HD space.

Well I put them both in the computer and they both appear to be the same thing. Same sizes and same content.
The discs are identical with the exception of the slight color difference.
I am going to assume they are the exact same game.

How about that fine print on the label? At least a proof of the Promo disc uniqueness.l0whit07 wrote:Well I put them both in the computer and they both appear to be the same thing. Same sizes and same content.

Very likely identical game, perhaps certain levels may have beta stuff, maybe a different level?
dedalusdedalus's idea of HDLoader/HDAdvance is a great way to at least verify if identical install size.
If different size then definitely something in the game is unique.

I've checked every bit of the disc and it is all identical including the tiny print around the outside of it.
I've never heard of HDLoader or HDAdvance, never burnt a game or anything like that. I might look into that software to check it out when I get a chance.
On a weird tangent that has nothing to do with the sole purpose of this thread.. I love the artwork of this game, very interesting/intriguing. It makes me really want to play the game, but never been much of a RPG player. If it was a movie though, I'd watch it fore sure.

It really is amazing. You can store and play your PS2 games from a hard drive, which cuts down on loading time.

You have not even played the game yet?l0whit07 wrote:It makes me really want to play the game, but never been much of a RPG player. If it was a movie though, I'd watch it fore sure.
At least give it a go for 10 minutes or so.

If you bought it from a used game store, chances are they put in the normal disc. Usually if it's a promo disc it will say promo on the disc. Like rental games have RENTAL NOT FOR RESALE on them. They'll be a basic label design like all black, or just transparent with black text (like platinum/greatest hits PS1 games).

is it more rare than the normal version of this game??
I bought the promotional version in mint condition complete for 23$

Promotional version is the same as regular Shadow Hearts.
It was a free gift to those who pre-ordered Shadow Hearts Covenant. The only difference is the labeling on the package itself.
I don't know if you care or not, or if you were looking for the original promotional game, the demo, released in Japan (now THAT would be rare) but you do have an authentic game.

wow, so even though its a reprint, its more rare than the original print
mines is in perfect mint condition, got it for 23$, a steal considering the ebay prices

yes the "promotional copy" is harder to find that the original. I had both version since i pre-ordered 2.

Thanks a ton for the info!
I think a came across something said pretty much the same thing. So sounds like the artwork is the only thing different. The discs have a slight color difference, but apparently the same exact game. Good to know.

Re: PS2 Shadow Hearts Promotional Copy Not for Resale
My copy of Metroid Zero Mission is a Not for Resale copy that came from a Gamestop. Someone had carefully colored over the NFR box with a sharpie. I thought it was just someone's name crossed out when I got it, but it was super cheap so I got it anyway. I got the sharpie off later and found out.Niode wrote:If you bought it from a used game store, chances are they put in the normal disc. Usually if it's a promo disc it will say promo on the disc.
