What "Great" game did you end up hating?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

why do you hate these games?

and if you hate these games what games do you like?
I just find them bland and unimaginative, and everyone i know who plays them is usually a slob or idiot (not to say everyone is)

But the again its probably just where i live, but they just don't ring with me, i fall asleep and don't get the apparent "adrenaline" rush from the so many people get.

My favprites genres are Action/Beat em ups (action games in general eg. God hand, No more heroes, bayonetta, Devil may cry, streets of rage, Turtles in time etc, Horror Survival, JRPG and Platformer.

I like motion controls when they are unique (WiiSports, Punch Out, the Mario Games, FPS) but using them over buttons for action games annoy me.
That is why I don't like No More Heroes. I probably would like the other ports better.
My thoughts exactly. I get sick and tired of hearing about how No More Heroes was "possibly the best use of Wii controls yet". Bullcrap. Everything about that game would have been far better on a standard controller. The only thing that I found interesting was using the Wii Remote as a phone - other than that, meh.

When all waving a motion controller does is take the place of pressing a button on a standard controller, you have failed as a developer.

^I'm guessing you never played no more heroes.

There is little use of the motion controls. You don't HAVE to use the finishers.

Actually, I guess I forgot to mention I was seg-waying into talking about Zelda: Twilight Princess as well - not to mention almost every other action/adventure Wii game. Very few of them actually use the Wii Remote in any interesting way.

Ya see, motion controls are only fun and interesting when they are used for precision gaming. For example - Trauma Center. That's an example of motion gaming done right. When all it amounts to is waving a remote taking the place of spamming buttons, it's not going to work.

I agree. Some may like motion controls, I for one wish they would have Classic Controller options for all action/adventure games not just the fighting ones.

Assassians creed for me also. I tried it for about 3 hours and I found it SOOOOOOO annoying that when riding the horse, I would bump into someone and Id have to fight or run away... blah....

Funny thing you should say that. I found AC2 to be the most gripping big-budget game of 2009, but I usually find traversing a game with large environments to be a chore.

Twilight Princess. I'm a huge Zelda fan, but TP was just... not good. Not good.

Most notably, Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VI, IV, and Chrono Trigger are among my favorite games, so for me the backlash was especially strong when I played my first 3-D next gen RPG. The game pretty much turned me off post-16bit RPGs in general.

The most recent one was No More Heroes. A lot of people on here seem to love the game, but I couldn't stand so many things about the game that beating it felt like a chore. From what I've read, the sequel has fixed all of my gripes with the original so I think I'll give it a go.
