Analog wiring help (custom controller)

Post by spinksy »

Need abit of help if possible - im making a custom controller and i' kinda stuck!!

I'm using an analog stick from an xbox 360 controller and have been able to identify what each pin is - i soldered it all up and earthed it etc and it works but theres a flaw!!

when you look up or down it stays there - and when you look sideways it spins round everytime! (so basically whenever i try use it i end up looking at the floor or ceiling spinning round and round!! :( )

anyone able to help me?(please)

How exactly did you wire up that Analog stick? It seems like the Analog is not self calibrating.

The best way for Analog sticks is using the original PCB it came with and soldering up the same contacts. The digital buttons however can easily be replaced with some commercial Arcade buttons. Again simply follow the same contact points of the original digital switches.

Did you solder resistors in place of the analog sticks? I think it's 3 10K resistors to have the sticks set to neutral.

You also have to be careful with the L+R Triggers. They need to have a resistor in place as well. The triggers are some sort of potentiometer, but I don't much about it. When I made my arcade stick I just left them on the PCB.

I copied what someone showed me - i have soldered wires to the contacts of a Dreamcast D-pad then taken them to an xbox 360 analog stick!

theres a guy on youtube done it and after emailing him he sent me a diagram on which contacts are which on the analog.

as said it works so ive got the contacts the right way its just it always ends up looking at the floor spinning round & round!? :?

Why make a whole new post?

You started here.

Allready stated there why your stick doesn't work.
A waste of everybody's time having to re-answer your questions.
