If I buy canned fruit, which for me is pretty much just pineapple, I get the stuff in pineapple juice. Same deal with tuna, buy the stuff packed in water rather than oil.

The kernel's no whole once you've chewed it, either. Most of the outer kernel is indigestible fiber, but when you chew it, the insides come out and that's where the stuff you can absorb is.

If you swallow a kernel whole, yeah, you might not get anything out of it.
Most Canned pineapples/peaches/etc. have sugary syrup. Certain brands use splenda instead of sugar.
You don't have to buy the sugary syrup ones. They aren't the only option. I personally think they're gross and never buy them. You didn't express an opinion on it, but splenda is worse than sugar, imo.

Nutritionally splenda is healthier.
But... it isn't in taste.

"Ban on saccharin is revoked but it still features on the list of carcinogens by National Institute of Health. So it is still unsafe for consumption."

I wouldn't eat that stuff.

Edit: Actually that quote was referencing NutraSweet I believe but that link does mention Splenda.

Sucralose is the safest sugar substitute, with no evidence pointing to it having long term damage.

Hmmm... From your link:

"Conversely, a Duke University study shows that at Sucralose consumption levels of 1.1-11 mg/kg (below the FDA 'safe' level), a 12-week administration of Splenda exerted numerous adverse effects, including (1) reduction in beneficial fecal microflora, (2) increased fecal pH, and (3) enhanced expression levels of P-gp, CYP3A4, and CYP2D1, which are known to limit the bioavailability of nutrients and orally administered drugs.[16] This study has been the subject of some controversy, with experts on both sides of the argument."

That doesn't sound so great to me.

Saccharine and Nutrasweet have both been shown to have negative long-term health issues, even though people thought for years that they did not. Don't worry about Splenda, though. This time it's different!

Even assuming that sucralose is safe, it still has the problem all other artificial sweeteners have. They make your body crave very sweet things. That's not good. It really doesn't take much sugar to have a pleasing sweetness. You don't have to take it to the extreme and dump five tablespoons into a cup of coffee so you're drinking syrup.

Can't we just agree that unhealthy food is delicious, and there's no way around it? Let's embrace our fatty foods and just get off our asses to compensate.

Some people hate overly fatty and fried foods...

Such a pity.

I do not really like sweet foods to often myself. I have a "spicy tooth" instead. I love spicy foods. Salty foods to I guess. I eat too much stuff like chips and cashews and other super salty foods. This is something I am trying to work on though. Since I quit smoking 18 months ago I have put on 30lbs. I am currently 195lbs at 5' 10" and I am 34 years old. I really want to get in shape and start taking care of myself better. Not only do I want to live a long life but I want to still be active and fit when I get up there. I want to be around to see my daughter grow up and I do not want to pass on bad eating habits to her. I am currently trying to decide between gyms right now but nutrition is a big factor also. What good is working out going to do if you have clogged arteries from eating fast food and other crap. Half the shit people eat now isn't even food, crap like Twinkies and soda.

Anyhow, nothing wrong with being conscience of the stuff you put into your body.

Without physical activity and reasonable food portions one is almost always doomed to obesity. A few recommended tools:
