Not true. One of my friends eats like a bird, tries not to eat too much that's really terrible, and at goes walking at least a few times a week and she still stays a little bit squishier than is healthy.
I'd rather be too skinny than too fat. I have basically the same problem though. I used to work at a philly cheesteak restaurant, and I'd eat a 1500 calorie sandwich every day (steak, 2 slices of bacon, 6 slices of cheese, bacon bits, ham, bleu cheese dressing, mmmmm) and never gained a pound.

Sure, you can buy food that is supposed to be healthy, but isn't due to quality.

Also, corn has no nutritional value practically.
You really should quote posts or something when you reply. I am assuming that you were replying to me.

You must be listening to some organic evangelists or something if you're claiming that everything I listed is unhealthy. If the stuff I mentioned is so bad, what should we be eating? Organic, free-range foods that are worse for the environment and could not feed the world population?

Maybe we should all just say, "I can't afford whatever yomamma1 considers to be healthy, so I'll just eat continue to eat potato chips, french fries, and cheese puffs."

We should certainly ignore nutritional analysis of the foods we eat. Corn has practically no nutritional value? That's ridiculous. It's low in calories, very high in fiber and, well, it's easier to just link to the relevant information:

Also, at Jrecee: Bananas are actually one of the fruits (yeah, I know, they're herbs) least likely to be contaminated by pesticides. You can buy the cheapest ones you can find without worry.

Organic foods also use pesticides and fertilizer.. The human body can't absob corn fully. Sure Corn has nutritional value if you extract the sugar from it. Or turn it into alchohol. Plus, you are being very vague. Are these Canned foods that you are buying for so cheap? Are they frozen, fresh, etc.?

Food Inc was a really good film. I also recommend it for those who have not seen it.

We live in a crazy world where people die from heart attacks in their 30's 40's and 50's all due to their own choices and behaviors. You reap what you sow.

Our society doesn't really lend itself to healthy eating, even if you want to. Yeah a banana is good for you, but the ones that are 80 cents a pound are probably filled with pesticides.
You know that you have arsenic in your body do you?

Remember the basics: A dose must reach a treshold to be unhealthy. Fish are always going to have mercury in them because they live in the sea and plants have arsenic. Also it may have pesticides but it will not kill you.

You're right. Your body does not fully absorb corn. It does not fully absorb any high-fiber food. That's kind of the point. That's what keeps your digestive system moving.
Sure Corn has nutritional value if you extract the sugar from it.

Or if, you know, you eat it.
Plus, you are being very vague. Are these Canned foods that you are buying for so cheap? Are they frozen, fresh, etc.?
Did you read my post? I thought I was pretty clear. Dried beans do not come in a can or frozen. Dried brown rice also does not come in a can. Bananas do not come in a can or frozen. Carrots can be found frozen or maybe even canned, but not for eighty cents a pound. I specified fruit that is in season. When it's in season, you eat if fresh, not canned.

I did also mention frozen vegetables. That pretty clearly referred to frozen products.

I mentioned Purdue boneless, skinless chicken breasts. It was kind of implied that they were fresh when I mentioned stocking up and freezing them yourself.

Peanuts are not sold frozen, and I have only ever seen boiled peanuts sold in a can. The ones I refer to come shelled and in a jar.

I was mentioning specific food items. I don't think you have mentioned a single one yet on this thread, other than corn (and you didn't specify on the cob, frozen, canned, or dried). Where was I being vague?

Great. Now can you produce something other than your word that says that corn has no nutritional value?

"Never" is a strong word. I don't eat canned goods too often anymore, but I do occasionally get some canned pineapple. It's fine, and has decent nutritional figures as long as it's not packed in syrup.

Creamed corn can be absorbed through the body, because the kernel isn't whole.

Most Canned pineapples/peaches/etc. have sugary syrup. Certain brands use splenda instead of sugar.
