FanimeCon 2010

Post by Dakinggamer87 »

This past memorial day weekend had FanimeCon in San Jose, CA. Any fellow racketboy members attend? It is basically like Anime Expo(AX) but in Northern CA instead of Southern CA. The main focus of the convention was anime but it did have some gaming with tournaments in Super Street Fighter IV and other fighting games. I also got to meet the creator of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue which was awesome!! I also saw some cool new anime series I hadn't seen before and lots of cool stuff. I wanted to pick up some anime figurines but they were very expensive thanks to being imports. The Aksys Games booth was my favorite area of the event since it had Death Smiles playable and BlazBlue. I'm looking forward to that Japanese shump at the end of the month. I got some free stuff including a Death Smiles promo poster which was sweet. The next gaming event Distant Worlds Final Fantasy concert in July besides E3 Expo in June!! 8)

Back when I was into Japanimation, I used to love conventions. I ended up losing interest as it caught on with the masses. However, I DO miss the gaming component of the conventions, though. I still have fond memories playing Rival Schools: Project Justice back in 2002's Akon. That was the stuff.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
