What "Great" game did you end up hating?
Re: What "Great" game did you end up hating?
Couldn't get into OOT in high school when it was relatively new or recently when I tried to get into it again. Also, No More Heroes was the most overrated game I've played. It's reviews didn't set the world on fire, but I was led to believe it would be an enjoyable game. I was not impressed.

Don't hate the playa, hate the game!MaliceValentine wrote:Halo

I personally despise them all, i get annoyed these games stand for generic beer swelling football loving men, its my opinion its why they sell because theres more of them out there than intelligent males and yes i am a male to.
(also, "Call of Duty 4" is"Modern Warfare")
So if I've enjoyed most of these titles a good deal, does that mean I am unintelligent? Ooo noes! I love football and beer too! Ooo noes! Clearly I am an inferior gamer!

You know, alot of people hated odst. Because of the health. and how it wasn't actiony enough. GTA 2 is pretty good.

Dudley and Elena seem pretty blatant stereotypes to me for a start.the7k wrote:
I feel you. Granted, I did play SF2 back in the day and loved it back then, but SF3 is just superior to it in every way - especially character design. SF2 had so many blatant social stereotypes I had a hard time believing someone at Capcom wasn't racist.
More on topic, I really wasn't all that taken by Megaman 2. Maybe it's because I played MM9 first, but 2 felt really empty, and the bosses in the wily stages felt really dull.
Another one I just didn't understand why it was so revered was Super Mario RPG. The characters were lifeless, the game was way too easy, the story was pretty lacking and the battle system was dull. The only good thing about the game I found was the mushroom maze music.
Other games I really didn't enjoy all that much that were supposedly great were Ristar, Sonic the hedgehog 3, Faselei, Bonks Adventure, the original Zelda and Secret of Mana,

I didn't care much for the Halo series. Too much hype in my opinion, though I enjoyed the co-op aspects.
The most recent game I remember playing that was considered great but I didn't care for has to be Crysis. It was very pretty, I'll give it that, but it didn't feel good to play. The weapons felt weak, the AI would know where I was every time I attempted stealth(including guards on the opposite side of camps), and the game felt stiff to me. I did have some enjoyable moments, but it never achieved greatness. And then I saw the ending, which was basically a plug to buy a sequel or expansion pack...I don't know, I really wasn't interested.
Now I enjoy FPS a lot, but I've noticed a lot of hate for them on this site. Please don't judge the genre based solely on the handful of titles that get the most hype, there are a lot of quality games you're missing out on from the last twenty or so years, and I'd be more than happy to suggest a few for you to check out if you're interested.
