What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Transferring data across cards takes forever because you have to do it one by one. I can never remember which of my loose cards has the save on it I am looking for. I wish I could keep my saves in one organized and centralized location..
I agree with the above statement...I have maybe 4-5 cards and don't ever remember where the right save is located. Add to that the fact it seems the larger storage cards take FOREVER to save/read. I guess it has to read all sectors before it can do any writing to the card?

PS2 is probably my fave also. The fan on the PS2Fat is pretty loud. Or so I thought....
I've also really enjoyed my 360 -but that thing has a jet turbine that makes a PS2Fat sound quiet. When I consider placing a console in a hidden closet so I can stream movies in peace, something is wrong.

Pulsar_t wrote:I agree with you regarding the SNES and MD, but optical storage wasn't really utilised to its maximum until the 6th generation. Most games filled the discs with FMV and redbook audio, and rips of PS1 games can be easily found nowadays: Their data rarely goes over the limit of N64 carts. In fact the whole slow drive access/read speeds plus the push to produce more fluff over gameplay did hurt the 32-bit generation quite badly. As for 16-bit consoles the ports were usually too slow to maximise the extra CD-ROM processing and space, with the addons themselves being handicapped by the severe lack of RAM. Only a portion of Sega CD games made full use of the extra processing power that was very hard to attain to begin with. And to think developers were expected to code for the MD+32X+SCD all in tandem. Sega went absolutely parallel-mad during the mid-90s.

The real shame was that storage was quite expensive back then, but the alternative didn't solve much until the Dreamcast and PS2 came about.
I look at what NEC/Hudson did with the PC Engine versus the CDROM addon as evidence that optical drives could indeed have made a positive impact on the 16bit generation were they to be utilised correctly.

I'm not so interested in the extra processing power (the ASIC on the Sega/Mega CD was nice, but not what I'm focussing on). The extra storage was however of great interest. Even if we're not talking hundreds of megabits, I can think of literally hundreds of games that could have benefit greatly from even 2-3 times the standard cartridge storage limitations.

And again, the PC Engine / TurboGrafx managed to do optical storage right. Why did Sega and Nintendo fail so badly, despite having far more resources and experience?

The joystick on the ngpc isn't analog, it's bassically the best digital control you can get though.

I was never a big fan of the TG16. I always thought the CD add-on mostly allowed for (oftentimes) awesome redbook audio for shmups and speech for JRPGs, but it seems I might be missing the big picture.

Give it time for the Nintendo Cash Cow to digest.
The DSi and later iterations of DS hardware ditched the GBA processor altogether. If GBA games were to made available as DLC they'd have to be ported, not emulated.

Frankly I have no use for GBA slot, but it seems the DS software is rapidly declining in quality so my DSLite will have to do for the time being. Was there such an awful drought during the final 1-2 years of the GBA?

I have two that I can think of at the moment:

Super Famicom - Short controller cords, case yellowing, and somewhat difficult to insert US games... either you cut up the SFC case (ouch!), swap cart cases, or find a passthrough cart.

GBC - No backlit/frontlit screen!

Dreamcast: Loud GD-Rom drive... "Oh great... here comes a random battle!"

Xbox 360: I really wish I could get rid of half the crap they have on the Dashboard... I don't understand why I have to scroll up to get to my important information (my games) and then another 4 times up to get to my friends... all the other crap should be on one "line" not 13 different lines of Ads!
