"Having already made an appearance on WiiWare, Contra will soon be making the jump to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. This time though, it will be as a spiritual successor to the Sega Genesis's Contra Hard Corps."

New Contra Announced for PSN and XBLA
Sadly the only current gen system I have is a Wii.
Re: New Contra Announced for PSN and XBLA
Looks pretty decent, however I like my Contra 2d.

This is good news, but I'm a bit tired of the faux 3-d look. It's getting too damn trendy now for old school releases like this. C'mon people, must we follow the herd? Ever get tired of riding that crowded bandwagon? Besides, we already had the 3d-ish looking Shattered Soldier.
I want my 2-d games looking like this:
Also, I wish games like this weren't relegated to digital downloads. I miss retail, budget releases, but that's just the reality of the times we're in. Althouth the Batman Brave and the Bold 2-d beat'em up being released on the Wii gives me hope.

This looks really awesome, and I hope it turns out to be a blast to play..
Now can we PLEASE get our brand new, 2-D Castlevania, Konami.. PLEASE....??? (And not that faux-SotN stuff we've been spoon-fed for the last 10 years on our Gameboys...)

Shank looks awesome too but don't forget that even back in the 16 bit era 2d side scrollers of all kinds were trying to look 2 1/2 D with parallax scrolling. Now they can give the background depth without resorting to puppet show tricks.Gamerforlife wrote:This is good news, but I'm a bit tired of the faux 3-d look.
