Mostly electronic. I just can't stand most stuff on the radio and only listen to it as an alarm to annoy me into getting up. I wouldn't be an ass and subject a carpooler to Controlled Bleeding or anything terrible like that though.

a progressive mariachi j-pop death metal hybrid.[/quote]

I knew Austin was a great music town, but I had no idea that something so wonderful existed.

Got a reply back from Game Over. I'm thinking they're a good place to hold this thing:
Thanks for contacting us about hosting your Racketboy.com meetup! We'd love to offer you either our Round Rock store (which has a cool outdoor gazebo area that easily accommodates large crowds) or the museum area of our main store in north Austin (this is our biggest store, but the museum area will only hold about 20 people) for your meeting for free.
I need to give him a call to iron things out and talk about a date. I need you guys to start letting me know when would be a good time. We need to pool together everyone's availability and work around that.

If you guys want to do this as a biannual or maybe even seasonal thing, we might be able to pull that off depending on how this goes. If multiple meetings aren't going to work out, we can shoot for August when onemanfilmcrew moves into town.

I also need to know what you guys would like to do during the gathering. Games? Just meet and greet? Eating?

This post will be added to the beginning post under everything else.

Cool, and yes, Games, Meet, and Eat. Think we should wait until OMFC gets there and is a little settled. Maybe just ask if GO is busy in August to guage how far in advance we need to confirm a date with them.

I'm thinking we have some multiplayer retro games on hand, food and beverage. Maybe some Konami beat-em-up type games.

One question though...what is everyone's opinion on adult beverage? Assuming it's even allowed at Gameover.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Probably not allowed. Presence of minors, aside from any other food/liquor license technicalities.

So we're migrating after they close then?

I haven't called them back yet. I will call on Saturday when I have more time to talk and that gives us a few days here to iron some more things out.

Would you guys rather do the central location with the museum or the north location with the courtyard/gazebo? I'm going to ask about setting up our own systems and possibly TVs. If we do this at the north location it probably means systems and TVs will be outdoors on a table. If you're bringing consoles/games, will you be OK with this?

Here's a screw attack tour of the central store:
The layout is relatively unchanged from that video.

Booze:
I'm not much of a drinker anymore. That's not to say I won't have a couple of shots and a Guinness, but don't rely on me to find a bar or venue for alcohol. ;)
