Contact cleaner or good old alcohol. If badly corroded some fine emery cloth. Don't forget the console contacts too. Unplug power, little cleaner on cart contacts insert remove several times, let dry.Silvermaverick7 wrote:I do have one. Do you have a bit to open up the carts so you can really see the contacts?

Re: Super Nintendo Graphics Question
As CRT said, contact cleaner is the best. Get a white plastic eraser too. Those Pentel click ones you extend out will work, but I prefer to use a handheld brick one. Spray some contact cleaner and start erasing across the contacts. It will start normal, then go slippery, then will go back to normal as the cleaner evaporates. Erase until all the gunk rolls up. As CRT said, if there are any bad spots it might take several goes or something rougher to carefully get at a bad spot.Silvermaverick7 wrote:I do have one. What is the best solution to use on them?
For cleaning the system again, take some clean cardboard from a cereal box or something, cut and double over a piece brown side out and slide it in the cart slot. Spray the contact cleaner along both sides to dampen it. Then carefully slide the cardboard up and down a little so it scrubs the contacts. Make sure it's had several minutes to dry before hooking power back up to try. Contact cleaner is conductive so you don't want to short and kill the system.
Hopefully that will help.

Re: Super Nintendo Graphics Question
Just want to throw this out there, Hobie-Wan and CRTGAMER, you guys are very helpful members of this community. My cartridge based consoles run like champs after cleaning them with these products and using the techniques that you recommend. CRT has helped me find instruction manuals online, although not originals, they get me by.
You guys rock, keep on truckin'.

Re: Super Nintendo Graphics Question
Good idea from Hobie on using a piece of cardboard to soak up the gunk.

Re: Super Nintendo Graphics Question
I just wanted to chime in that I also think this problem is because of dirty console and/or carts.
Re: Super Nintendo Graphics Question
I've nothing to add, however that first pic and others like it would make a fantastic board quiz...

Never thought about using the cardboard, good suggestion.
