Im "pro BC". I would like to get the new DSi XL but about half of the games I play on my DS lite are GBA games. Games don't have an expiration date. If a game is good it will last, even if the technology is inferior to new games, so why not include the possibility to play those?
If Im going on a long trip I don't want to bring three different handhelds, I'd rather just bring one.
What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?

Re: What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?
you know that we're on a forum discussing GAMES, right? I never for a moment thought that anything I said would be "cool" would somehow become a business model for a company. And also, I'm curious where you got the statistics that show that BC wouldn't interest enough people to make it a selling point. But ultimately, I'm just y'know... talking about games. So calm down.yomomma1 wrote:You want b/c because it would be cool to have,
Re: What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?
You want a legit reason for adding BC? How about this; playing games.yomomma1 wrote:It doesn't.
What bothers me is your attempt to rationalize it. To try and make it seem like "Oh It is a selling point, so keep making it b/c" (Even though no one wants it anymore(No one being the majority of consumers, and the company making it)
My argument was a business decision one, or rather an explanation. You want b/c because it would be cool to have, and you argue with me to try to find legitimate reasons for the company to put it there.
It's fine if you want it.
But I Know there is no real need, and a waste of time, and money.
I know that (this forum of people) want B/C, but then there is a huge amount of people that Don't care about it, or want it.
I suppose I am always getting in Disagreements like this because I tend to care more on a Standpoint that is more realistic, and less "WHY NOT RELEASE SHENMUE 3!!!"
Money.

Favorite System: Virtual Boy
Dislike Most: Everything about it
Dislike Most: Everything about it
Re: What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?
It costs more to release a System that does has full b/c. Plus having original games of it's own. Why make a product that 75% of the features people don't use?
Noise,
I never said that the business model would be cool. I said that The reason you want B/C is because it would be cool for you to have a handheld that does everything (Agree, disagree?)
The majority of people do not want to play old games on a new system.
Look at the wii, Do people play more gamecube, or wii games? If you look at the demographic of the wii most do not even play older games. We could get in a disagreement over demographic. If you marketed a system that was b/c, it would be a niche market. I am just going to stop here because It would take me 2 hours to explain what would be good and bad. (Like, does this system have original games? if so it sounds like a waste of manufacturing money.
Jungell, you obviously didn't bother reading the other posts. That was about a company's reason to add b/c. (Which isn't much, considering that Sony doesn't offer it, and then they sell the older game as downloadable making them more money)

but my point was I was never trying to rationalize why it would be a good business decision. I was trying to rationalize why it would be cool to retro-gamers like we.
Again, I'm wondering where you're getting your statistical data from? The majority of people do not want to play old games on a new system.

Agreed. Nintendo would have already sold me a DSi if they hadn't removed the GBA slot.Jungell wrote:You want a legit reason for adding BC? How about this; playing games.
Also, there are a LOT of good games from the old GB/C days that are in danger of being lost or forgotten to the gaming community simply because there is no modern option available to play those games. Nintendo should have released a Virtual Console option for the DSi if they were intent on removing a cart slot.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?
No, listen
You are getting confused.
It doesn't make sense for a company to release it b/c.
HOWEVER it would be cool for someone like you to have it
(I was saying that it isn't a good buisness decision to make it b/c, And that you were trying to find a reason for them to release it other than the fact that it would be cool for someone like you)
Back on topic... The genesis 2 model's rf.
Back OFF topic.
Really, Were am I getting this statistical data? This isn't like the amount of g force from a stationary fall from 67 feet. Look at the demographic, then look at what games they play. Do the majority of dsi owners own games from 2+ generations ago?

but I wasn't trying to find a reason for them to release it. I was just saying it would be cool. Damn! Is there a Smilie for "blue in the face"?yomomma1 wrote: And that you were trying to find a reason for them to release it other than the fact that it would be cool for someone like you)
Re: What do you dislike the most about your favorite console?
but they made the GBC and GBA fully backwards compatable. Hell, they used BC as a selling point. Seemed like a good trend. "Play all your old favorites! Look forward to great new games!"
Looks like trying to find a reason for releasing B/C to me
On topic hopefully...
Microsoft charges way to much for accessories.
