US Imports on PAL Modded Saturn

Post by FlacoJAM »

G'day,
I bought a mod chip for my Sega Saturn from racketboy.com, installed it and all went well.
However, after some time I've encountered problems with backups not fully loading or the Saturn intro sequence stalling, or crashing.
I recently bought Astal - US Region for Sega Saturn and it won't load at all. The is a message saying: "This disc is unsuitable..." I live in Australia. Do you know if the mod chip installed should allow this game to work, or can I get an Action replay and make Astal work on my Saturn? Any feedback is appreciated. :?

The mod chip will not allow you you to play games from a different region. An action replay would let you play it or you could make a region switch for the saturn. Alternatively if you have the the image you could region mod the game with SRP

Thanks for your reply. Would the Region Switch allow me to play all regions, or is it a permanent switch solution? I have been reading a little about it, I would need to solder however it seems to be a permanent solution, and perhaps it will only allow me to select one region at a time. Cheers!

I havn't done it but the guides i've seen say that the switch lets you select one region at a time, but its easy enough to cycle through the regions by holding the button down/flicking the switch.

Racketboy has some good info.

The ultimate Sega Saturn-Mod (v2) Is good too, but looks hard.
