As far as I know, old topics aren't deleted, so this should be the first time it's happened. I never really thought about this place getting to the point where there was such a large number of pages, but here it is.
Also, a question for anyone who would know; at what point do old topics get deleted?

Racket might have a purge job on the DB, but I doubt it. While I can't speak for all the mods, I know my policy is to only delete topics that are obvious spam topics, so if someone bumped an old thread with spam I'd just delete the offending post and let the topics sink back down to their original spot.BoringSupreez wrote:As far as I know, old topics aren't deleted, so this should be the first time it's happened. Yeah, and who knows, we might need some information in those old threads some day. Besides, with every thread you delete, you give Luke less chances to use his catchphrase!

Keeping old pages is very useful when looking up past problems or pulling questions that have been answered.

Personally, I think "we already have a million threads for that, use the search next time" threads should be deleted instead of just locked. Or do they get deleted after a certain amount of time?

I don't delete them, I just merge them into the correct topic.Ziggy587 wrote:Personally, I think "we already have a million threads for that, use the search next time" threads should be deleted instead of just locked. Or do they get deleted after a certain amount of time?

Agree, loss of good information if deleted. But too many same stuff all over again.emwearz wrote:Keeping old pages is very useful when looking up past problems or pulling questions that have been answered.
Look at the topic right before this one. Moderator's never ending thankless job.

Too many don't take the time to search, posting a new thread with the same old questions.
Really think the front page should have a "Recent 10 Replies to Previous Threads" to cut down on repeats.
Edit
A bump to generate replies of above queries. If only on the front page ..........

No, idea is to prevent new threads of same subject by having maybe 10 newest replies to old threads on the Front Page.BlackDS wrote:Well now there is going to be 201 thanks to you!
