What are the shining jewels in your video game collection?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I agree with this. I'm not going to grab the Radiant Silverguns, Super Tempos, and Psychic Assassin Taromarus (the fact those were all Saturn examples was coincidential) because they're expensive- I'll grab them because I want to play them (at least I wanna play Silvergun. Don't know enough about Tempo or Taromaru)

The sparkle in my collection is and will continue to be the complete copy of MGS3 Subsistence: Limited Edition I got for $10.

Did I need it? No, I coincidentally just got the standard edition less than a week prior. Will I ever play? No, I don't really need to. Could I have ever passed that deal up? Oh, hell no.

Seeing my Genesis games boxed and lined up comes to mind.

I've also got an NES Sharp TV and a very minty Sega CD Model 1 that is boxed/complete with just about everything that would have been there on day 1. Hmm and a brand new Korean Sega CD Model 2. Box has been opened, but the contents are still sealed. But those last three I haven't really used, so I'd still go with my Genesis stuff as I can't think of much else.

I go through a lot of phases. Currently, I'm big into my PS3 and also getting a bit nostalgic for the 16-bit era. So right now the shining jewels in my collection would be my small PS3 library and my collection of boxed and complete SNES and Genesis games as that's kind of what I'm most into right now. Regarding my 16-bit collection, I'm particularly proud of having Wild Guns boxed and complete(because it's such an obscure title among SNES fans), the SNES version of The Adventures of Batman and Robin boxed and complete(cause I'm a big Batman fan) and Final Fight 3 boxed and complete(because it seems like copies of the game from any region in the world are hard to find)

In terms of monetary value though, nothing in my collection beats my complete with spine card copy of Radiant Silvergun. I have a few other Saturn games that go for a good price too though like Guardian Heroes, D&D:Shadow Over Mystara and Dragon Force. And I have some hard to find PS1 and PS2 titles and both Marvel vs Capcom games for the Dreamcast

Mine would have to be:

1) Boxed Samba De Amigo Maracas
2) My Import Sega Saturn Shmups
3) FF7 Black Label (because its my favorite rpg)
4) Boxed Sin and Punishment n64 Import
5) Boxed Original Gameboy System

1. Shining Force III (disc only)
2. Dragon Force (disc only)
3. Sega Genesis model 2 w/ Vectorman, Sonics, Shinobis, Streets of Rage 2, Street Fighter 2, and other stuff.

I don't actually have much rare stuff.

I'm really a very utilitarian gamer... I don't like to pay a lot of money for something that looks cool but isn't any more/less fun to play. I'll settle for ports, disc/cart only copies, or even emulation in some cases if the price is too high.

Nice choices. I have those as well, the boxed Sin and Punishment in particular I'm proud of. It's really the only N64 import I have.

Speaking of the N64, I'm quite proud to have a complete in box copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day, one of the best platformers ever

There are certain games I have that I consider shining jewels in my PS2 collection. They are not particularly rare (maybe a little), but I think they are great games, so I am proud to own them. I have every Shin Megami Tensei game on the PS2 (Nocturne, Digital Devil Sagas, Devil Summoners, Personas). I have Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I have Silent Hill 2, 3, & Shattered Memories. I have Psychonauts. Okami. Gradius V. Killer 7. Grim Grimoire. The Yakuza games. The Zone of the Enders games. Haunting Ground.

I'm not exactly sure why I'm proud of these. Partly because I had to search for awhile to find most of them. Partly because a lot of them are not very mainstream, but are really cool. Partly because they are just great games.

I've got a ton of PC games too, but since anyone with a Steam or GOG account can easily buy the same games, they somehow don't seem as boast-worthy. I do have a copy of Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn though. That's kind of cool.

I also take pride in owning some semi-obscure indie games that other people don't usually have, such as The Void, The Path, The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, etc.

Tough question. I really like my complete boxed sets of Lunar 1 and 2 for the PSX. It was a sweet package deal, and I got into an all night bidding war to claim it, so they both have some inflated value to me. Ogre Battle for the SNES was also a good addition, but my friend 1-upped me two days later and got it complete in the box.
